BatteteK - NEW WIP (Jump up roller DnB)

Ok but not great.
The build is quite short and doesn't build very much, which reduces the impact of the drop a lot.
The chord/ key changes make a nice change, but some of the individual chords don't seem quite right. If you post the notes/ chords you're using, I could probably give you some advice for making better chord sequences.
The bass is a bit quiet, but it might just be my crap headphones. I like the snarliness though.
The drums are not great. The kick is fine, but the snare/clap doesn't really have a punchy transient. The ride is overly loud and messy. Bongos are fine. The pattern doesn't seem great: whilst it's annoying that everyone uses the same kick snare pattern, there's a reason they do: it's got a great groove to it.
Sorry for excessive harshness. Feel free to insult my new track too, if I ever manage to finish it.

Haha, no this is the kinda criticism I need bro!! no need to say sorry haha. I dont hear a lot of the stuff that im doing wrong, because i don't know that it's wrong... Thanks for all this help. Ill edit this version and upload an improved v2 later! yeah if you wanna help with the chord progression, see the screenshot: https://www.dropbox.com/s/kjo4a9rk7hkczpl/Screenshot 2014-04-22 22.47.58.png

Sorry, I didn't mean actually give me crit: I haven't made anything even close to being finished in months. I was just trying to say take everything I say with a pinch of salt, cause I'm not exactly a pro.

How much theory do you know? I can give advice, but I don't want to ramble on about chords and shit if it's not gonna make sense to you.
Also I want to check if I'm reading the score right. You wrote a three note thing (CDF) then moved it down four semitones to A flat? (Ab, Bb, Db) is that right?

Ah okay. well it helps!

well im not a pro or something, just a hobbyist who aint that long into the producing game. Yeah, that's right I moved them 4 semitones down.

Ok, I'll keep it simple then.
You're starting on C, and all the notes you're using (C,D,F, Ab, Bb) belong to a C minor scale.(Specifically C natural minor, but it's not important) So this track is in C minor.
There's one note that doesn't fit, which is the C sharp. So, I'd recommend that you change that one.
Also, the biggest thing which makes C minor C minor and not C major is an Eb. You can tell from the Ab and Bb that come in later that it's in C minor, but as it's quite a long time before they come in but it's better to make it clear from the beginning by putting a few Ebs in there.

to be honest, I come from a time where that track you dropped was called noise.
today, some noise is turned into dubstep and even though nobody would spend money on that, people still think it has got something to do with music.
Let me tell it like this,
music originally was the sound created by animals to find a partner to mate and bring forth offspring.
You think that this type of sound would attract other living creatures? My guess is, it does not.

Make nice sounds, bring harmony into the sounds you collected and put in some order and make people want to hear more.
You might even attract a nice female who would give you more then money can ever buy (and thus get filthy-rich).

Smoothassilk seems to be a real friend for you on this one.

All that aside, don't give up and enjoy the fun of creation your own vibes.

and be a sport, check out my cloud on

hahahaha kuttrol XD

i like this track man!....the rides/hats on the drums are very harsh and loud but give it energy and oomph...maybe try compressing them more and eqing a bit then getting them to sit in the mix a bit better (volume wise)....i really like the conga sequence/loop which adds a cheeky bit of movement!....the second bass change (which i think is a semitone lower than the first sounds better than the latter and fills the mix better...
...
anyway...sorry im getting carried away lol!....good track man with plenty of potential !

if you get a chance check my new 'DROP' EP....u might just like!!!
