basslines in logic

ive just started working with logic, and ive started using the basics on ultra-beat so ive finally created a snare and kind of beat

with more work i can improve on these

but the thing im clueless about is how 2 get a bassline

could any1 explain the basics to me so i have something to work on????

are you talking actual bass (ie low subby sounds below say the 100hz range) or what most people mistakenly call basslines but are actually synth hooks?

actual bass... you want a sin for pure sound, maybe oscilated or layered with a saw or square wave to add harmonics and the key is to low pass it and keep the notes low on the 'keyboard'

synth wise, practice practice practice! there is no 'way', only results ;)
 
use the es2 synth mate..

go to presets>bass> and i think its called 'deep bass'

this is a good sine subby bass which should give a nice bottom end to your tracks.

have a play about with this, add some effects like a filter, distortion, wah.. see what you come up with.

most dnb have a hook synth (the catchy part) over the top of the sub bass.

for example listen to xray by subfocus.

you will hear a really driving low end.. this is the sub with some compression and most likely low passed. (low pass means it will cut out all the high frequencies out)

on top of that will be the lead synth.. obv then you have drums etc.
