New South West night Bassix is now onto its fourth event with each one being a great success. This month saw Bad Company and MC Fearless headlining at the home of Bassix... Enigma Nightclub in Cheltenham.
Doors opened at 10pm and the masses were greeted by the devastating Dirt Sound System. Fresh from an extensive overhaul the system is now louder and clearer than it has ever been.
Up first was Crash Recordings main man, Poison. Spinning a deep selection of Oxford sounds by the likes of Total Science and Digital, Poison warmed up the night nicely and treating us to a selection of new beats finished up with Brockie's new System Check track. Poison is one of the pioneering ambassador's of the local scene always offering the most up front selection whether it be tear out dancefloor mayhem or diverse deep breaks. Packing up his tunes he made his way to Rukus in Bristol playing his second set of the night for Thekla based Rukus.
Following Poison and taking to the decks to an almost full dancefloor was Bassix promoter Access. A regular face behind the decks in the South West, Access has played alongside the big names for nearly 3 years now. He Opened his set with Kamanchi's hip hop drenched Sounds Of Da Culture and moved fast and furiously through a selection of Bristol flava's old and new, such as 3 Way's Appreciation and Roni Size's infamous 26 Bass. Higlight of the set was most likely the airing of Dillinja's Good Girl taken from the new Killa - Hertz LP. Accompanied by the sounds of talented local resident MC's Stanza and Glenergy rewinds were at the minimum and crowd excitement was at the maximum.
Bassix Co Promoter Kontagious stepped up next to a heaving sweaty dancefloor. One thought in his mind "lets make those fuckers dance" was all he needed. Opening with Pendulum's Trail Of Sevens and whacking straight into the mix to double drop with Baron's remix of Total Science's Nosher. Accompanied on the mic by MC Dread, one of the local scenes most recgonised and respected vocalists. Quick and tight mixing was the story of the day as the crowd was treated to tracks old and new such as Ram Trilogy's Milky Way, Dillinja's Raise Your Hands and Bad Company's Dogsploitation.
"SOUNDS OF KONTAGIOUS ALONGSIDE FEARLESS"
Professionally late the mighty MC Fearless had arrived as the clock drew near to 1am. Busting trademark lyrics to an adoring crowd all eyes were now turned towards the MC stage where Fearless could be seen bouncing around like a man possesed. As Kontagious polished off his set with a track from new Producer Jinmen another figure could be seen in the DJ booth...
"WHO'S READY FOR THE BAD COMPANY"
As personally requested by the management, man of the moment Maldini entered the ride with the epic intro of "HIS" own track Bulletime. Arguably the best DJ Bad Company has to offer. Maldini smashed Enigma with a whole host of incredible new tracks set to appear shortly on BC Recordings. Serious props to Maldini for the tightest set ive heard since we had Andy C in Cheltenham.
Unfortunetly the remainder of the night is somewhat of a blur.

I can say that a had a good boogie to the retro sounds of Ghandi rinsing out the old skool ragga vibes. Where do you get some of those tunes mother fucker... Watch your box... keep it locked! Massive props to the Dirt Sound System crew and all others on hand at Enigma, you know who you are...
