DEXCELL - "THE LIGHTS"
DEXCELL - "RECONDITE"
Working up momentum and moving into Breach Audio's third release, label honcho's Dexcell, deliver "The Lights" & "Recondite". Two tech-fuelled, minimal-esque tracks. Switching up the styles with this release, Dexcell delve into the darker side of Drum and bass. Breach's intentions for expanding into this techy sub-genre, is to showcase the diversity of what the label has to offer this year.
We begin with "The Lights", a deep atmospheric roller. Creeping rhodes, bleeps and a haunting vocal start off the track's proceedings, drawing the listener into a minimal yet energetic drop. This track is like a machine at full throttle. Deep, grinding subs and mechanised mid-range bass dominate throughout. With its short intro, its a must have for any quick mixing Dj.
To match the A-side, Dexcell keep with a similar vibe by serving up the moody "Recondite". Staggered hi-hats, eerie pads and tight hits of percussion start off the track. This leads into a pulsating automated bass-heavy drop. Although quite basic at its core, this is exactly what Drum and Bass is about, Drums...and...Bass...
Crank these up and experience the gut-rumbling subs first hand!
