Audacity recording problems

I don't know if anyone would be able to help me but I've tried recording mixes a few times with Audacity. Every time I try it's ok for a while then it crashes and my laptop resets. If anyone has an idea of why it is that would be very helpful.....Thanks

But...

How new is your laptop? Maybe your maxing your CPU whilst recording, which is causing it to crash.
Have you tried unintalling it? Then redownloading/installing.
Have you adjusted the buffer?

make sure you also didn't download the beta version of the program if you are running on xp and vista... i downloaded the beta version, but only because i have windows 7 and 4gigs of ram... so you might also wanna double check with the people on the forums
