    Hi all,

I kind of used the name Mantrax for quite a while till I found someone else already had that name and had released records. So I thought of something else, Mindtrax. I've been using it for the last year or so, but I discovered that some other techno artist has also got the same name and started using it around the same time.

They actually sent me a message, it was generally polite, basically saying that he had the name and that was released records under it. That person also changed their name from something else!

Now this other Mindtrax has released stuff already. They are in a different genre. But I'm thinking I'll just find something else.

    Any thoughts or experiences??!!

    Thanks,

    Manoj

Hmm.. I think I will probably change it completely. It doesn't sound as good with UK slapped on the end of it anyway.

DJ Hype sounds good but i'm sure it's taken :)

Copy right it or even start a company up using your name. Then anyone starts using your name don't go as far as suing but politely ask them not to use your name anymore as its a registered company. Owning the web address goes a long way these days. Most people search for the web address availability before choosing that name.

Registering a company is not expensive

    Hope that helps

You can't really copyright a name or word, but you can trademark it (in the US at least and IINAL, just a lot of interwebs copyright experience).
