Ants! you don't even need to kill them just a crunchy high protein snack. (this was when i was younger mind you)
I did shoot a squirrel once, skinned it, put it on a skewer, popped it on the fire....but burnt it to a crisp.
I would imagine squirrel meat to be like that, a fine line between getting the optimal cooking time.
Every year, a Duck for Xmas dinner, get it late October/early November, feed it up on stuff to season it from the inside.
Then on the 23rd...

My dad taught me how to catch, skin and cook rabbits when I was a kid. Loads of rabbits about in East Yorkshire and is good eating too. Caught and plucked a few pheasants and ducks in my time too.

I'm saving my meat kill/preparation for the day I go on safari and get left behind for being the only African on the trip. There I will meet a lion and name him Saafikiyyah and we will go on enchanted adventures through the savannah. After about three months he will have been fed well enough and grown well enough for me to snap his neck and begin my feast of betrayal.

Chased a live pig up and down a street with about 25 cousins and many other relatives. Got it in a headlock and shanked it, blood everywhere, it died, elbow drop just to make sure.
Then it was prepared by about 6 women who made a Pork Sancocho. What an amazing day.

we had 22 chickens for eggs. 2 of them died one morning and a few more started fitting, we figured they were sick so we had to kill them.
I had the job of delivering the finishing blow, got easy after the first 4, the other 16 were like sport.
You killed 20 epileptic chickens? That's going to take some beating...
killed chickens n turkeys n prepared them when i was younger...
and ive hunted rabbits n eaten them.. but didn't prepare...
