what i did for my neatgear router was create a firewall rule that allow the IP address and ports my xbox 360 used, you check those on your xbox, your better off googling it tho, try find a guide

i think you need to tell the node(P.C) or server your connecting to your port number so they can communicate(Send packets of information) with other.

    (I THINK)

Never really messed with port numbers other than when im downloading and it goes shitty slow, then i change my port, more like a refresh.

Static ip means your internet protocol(Address of your pc) never changes. 192.8.0.1

port forwarding is basically telling your routers firewall/ Net Access Translation (NAT) to accept connections inbound (other players/live) and outbound (your game) to your xbox 360

mate you should be able to find a guide on here on how to set up a static ip address and then look up your router and it'll give you a step by step guide on how to forward ports for your 360 n everything else
