Going to start saving and I have heard lots of different things about ISA accounts and fixed term saving accounts, always chose to ignore all of it.

Anyone know what the best thing to go for would be? I want to be able to set up a direct debit from my current account straight to an account with another bank where i cant touch the money. Probably looking to transfer about 500 - 700 quid a month. I know fuck all about banking and accounts and shit!

Thought i would go into some banks and speak with them but they are all fucking sales people at the end of the day. Anyone recommend any accounts?

I had an ISA where I put a bunch of money in and couldn't touch it for 5 years. Was annoying I couldn't use it when I was in sticky situations but it was worth it in the long run. I think the rule of thumb is the longer your prepared to lock it away for, the better the interest rate you'll get on it.

yeah i guess you got to think about how long you want to be saving for to be honest. do you think it would work to have a normal current account for short term saving and an isa for long term then?

Yeh I suppose (but im not a financial wizz so don't take what i say too factually). I've now got an instant access ISA, which has a worse interest rate, but it means I can save money in there with no debit card attached to it to rinse the money.

I would suggest going into a bank and saying exactly what you want from an account and see what they suggest. But make sure you go to more thank 1 bank, see who is bull shitting you and who has the best offer

I work at a bank, but the rules change from bank to bank and from country to country. What you described, here in Brazil we could call as a "Money Laudry suspicion".

Yeah, probably here too. as it is labeled as just "suspicion", not the real thing. TBH, there's no other place where you can get this info unless at the bank itself. Yeah, people there are more salesman than anything, but it's something you need to tolerate.

I forgot to add. The only way to withdraw money from the ISA is to write a letter to the company requesting funds. You get a cheque sent through the post within 7 days.

Stops you from dipping in to it when you shouldn't.

Mate dumped a load of money into utokens yesterday, apparently new internet currency?

Anyone know anything about these? All sounds to good to be true to me but, he seems to think he is going to make a wedge from it.

    Anyone know anything about them?

If they are as good as they say they are then it could be a good idea for OP
