Just got thinking the other day…
As a scene which is diverse culturally, obviously rascism is completely unacceptable. Anyone caught using the N word out of context or generally disrespecting another person’s race is completely frowned upon, and rightly so.
Yet still homophobia is somehow ok.. Im not talking necersarily on an individual level but certainly when you look at a lot of jungle lyrics or raga lyrics there is a hell of a lot of homophobia involved in the context.
Is this hypocritical? I mean I love jungle as much as the next guy but I am finding it harder as I get older to turn a blind eye to all the ‘batty killer’ lyrics. Ive never really taken much notice of that but as I get older I find it harder to swallow that kind of ignorance. Its as bad as racism.
And anyone who thinks everyone in this scene is straight is kidding themselves!
