I'm looking for a program for my pc to record my dj sets. My computer is kind of ghetto. I don't have a sound card and just having a baby 10 months ago I can't afford one. I was told I can run a Y rca cable into the mic jack. Any advice on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Most pc's that have built-in mic jack also have a line in jack, which would be better suited for recording.

Anyway you can record with so many progs, even windows sound recorder works just fine (it saves as wave file though so you need something else to convert to mp3).

Open the volume control from the taskbar - options menu -> properties -> adjust volume for... check 'recording' and hit OK. You can then select which sound source to record. The stereo mix records everything that comes out of the speakers so you'll get mouse clicks and what have you. Just tick the box below microphone or line in, whichever you're using with your rca.
