Thanks

It all depends on your room, subs in a non treated room are fine for watching dvds, but you really need to look into bass trapping etc, if you want an accurate response when producing.

The people I know with subs in average size rooms usually find it overpowering, and turn down the sub in their tune to compensate, and then when it gets played anywhere else it lacks in the lower range.

If your still interested in getting one, I recommend buying this book, it's less than a quid on amazon, and will mean you won't ruin your sound with guesswork.

Alexi said everything thats important i guess.

I just read the book Mixing Secrets for the small studio (I would recommend it for like anyone out there! http://www.amazon.com/Mixing-Secrets-small-studio-Senior/dp/0240815807) and in one of the first chapters he's talking about woofers and stuff, too. Without Bass Traps its not worth it because the room modes don't let you judge the volume of the subfreq.

Confirmin' dat.
