About compressing a song

    Ez, guys.

    One of the hottest topics I see on music forums is compression as well as mastering (as they're often related), and a lot of the info shared is a bit off or wrong. Compression is something I use in mastering, but I don't use it as much as people less familiar with mastering or compression seem to think is necessary.

    Yeah man, hyper-compression/hyper-limiting can strangle the life out of a tune. However (as you say in your blog), multi-band compression is a great tool when used sparingly. I get the feeling that sometimes the Ratio control is pushed too far!
