Good that youve stumbled upon my thread (which is unlikely lol)
ive been making DnB/IDM music for 4 years - my work is very experimental.
i have no outcome out of my work and im very different than others, i want your feedback

Please give me an opinion on what to improve and whatnot, im also auditorily selfeducated (if that makes sense?) so if you tell me that i have tone bass up or apply distortion to that ill understand you

Thank you

Yes

I found the thread.

I really like the ideas you've got here especially the 4/4 rinse and the structure overall. I could see Mefjus playing something like this you know?

The synths you got in the intro and break are nice. If your going to have such massive drops you need more FX like sweeps and that to build up. Maybe some silence on bar 63. The second drop is sick too. Nice mixable outro.

You just need to work on your mixing to make it sound more professional. Like some of the FX and edits are too loud. You can sidechain them to the kick or a ghost kick if you are using a break. Are you using headphones? You should put a WAV of a song or 2 you like in your DAW and mix your tune in accordance. This can take processing power on your computer though but the A/B should be there from the start of your production otherwise it is too much hassle to go back and change your levels and you get bored of the song which is more the case with impact tunes like this one.

I am self educated too and i thank forums like this for samples and tips.

I do agree on the mixing part. i do use headphones yes. I am still trying to improve that. though, im quite stressed out by the fxes because what if they are too silent. i almost always have tendencies to tone them up, i realized that if you look at my song Watchtower, it really explains it why it is better to make them silent. i found a very hacky method to put a limiter in master (im using fl studio 11) and then tone up the kick and snare very high so it "sidechains" everything lol. its so strenous to apply sidechain to every channel, maybe i should consider doing that. it improves the track...

for the exporting part, dont you mean i have to post-produce? i dont do that but if its something i should try, then i will.

thanks for the reply mate, kudos for that.

FX should be the part of the track that is just there but you don't really focus your listening on it but it feels unnatural when it is not there. So you don't need it too loud it is good to keep it subtle and just flow nicely.

I found it helpful to buy a FX only stems track from beatport and then match my levels to that.

It does take time but if you spend an afternoon just writing filter sweeps and bleeps and either bounce them or save the channel presets you can just drag and drop them later because the volume levels will be right and you can mix your other elements in.
