well, ipswich used alright for dnb but after the closure of a few places clubs etc, the local crew had struggled to find venues etc

but recently the faithful dnb dj's mcs managed to get a room in a fairly decent club and had a night once a month in their rented room on a friday last of every month

everything is going fine then the club (not the promoters) book shy fx on a thursday night nothing to do with the night the promoters are doing

aparently they had a bit of trouble when shy fx played
, this had nothing to do with the local drum and bass night at all

the police have now told to stop the dnb nights in that club full stop!

The local promoters have spoken to the club, and the club has had no problem from their nights, but they have to follow police instructions!

I guess they think all dnb heads are truoble makers, with their backs turned to the 90% of clubbers in ipswich that batter each other to death on drink whilst us ravers hover home high and eat cheese on toast

    Shite.

I work in venue management, apart from promoting Breakneck. At our venue (in Manchester), we've been banned by the cops from doing any more Bassline / Niche nights (which are very popular with the kids in the area) because there was a shooting outside one a year ago. 1 incident out on the street in one of Manc's worst crime areas out of 10 peaceful events...

They send very clear letters to the management saying that such events can't go ahead and are 'a front for gangs, drug dealing and criminal activity', when in truth, as we all know, the kids just wanna night out, hear the music they love and have a dance.

I feel for you. You / they just gotta find another venue and keep putting on the nights.

    :)
