Fucking horrible. To see a country that's so "Earthquake ready" get fucked up like this is just scary! Mother Nature shows no mercy.
Pretty fuckin nuts init. Couldn't imagine what it'd be like if that happened over here. London would just be FUCKED
my thoughts are for the people in japan suffering. All seems to indicate the possibility of 2012 lol been saying it for months, the amount of natural disasters that have happened in recent times is an excessive amount compared to past years. why now?? why all of a sudden all these natural disasters?? i seriously doubt that the world will end in 2012 but i do think this is only the beggining of something major thats about to happen. ---------- Post added at 13:26 ---------- Previous post was at 13:26 ---------- innit the whole country comes to a stand still when a little bit of snow hits. god knows how we would cope with an earthquake or worse
http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/03/11/us-japan-quake-tsunami-hawaii-idUSTRE72A1OW20110311 We tend to see it like this but if you look at the ten biggest earthquakes, most of them (6) happened in 1950 - 1965. Here is a list: http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0763403.html more pretty nice infos on earthquakes there.
Yeah I never believe it at first, but I am starting to get slightly worried 2012 could be the end. Either that or the world leaders are up to something and trying to cause some sort of panik
Wow! Just goes to show the fucking awesome power of water! Every sympathy goes out to the Japanese but if anyone's ready for this kind of thing it's them... Natural 'disasters' are as old as the earth itself it's just that there are so many more people around than there used to be and whatever happens is either caught on video or on camera so it impacts us harder. Lets wait for the Thames to freeze over like it did in the 1730's before we start to get worried about 'unusual' weather patterns Freek! ---------- Post added at 14:21 ---------- Previous post was at 14:19 ---------- Fuck Sheffield...who can spot the accident waiting to happen with Naples?
I wouldn't worry about it, they can't control the drift of tectonic plates (yet). My thoughts also go out to Japan.
exactly..., i mean we are only alive for a brief moment, due to a series of collisions and explosions. in the scale of the universe you would miss our great "humanity" in the blink of an eye!!
pictures of the aftermath http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2011/03/11/world/asia/20110311_japan.html?ref=asia#1
Okay, so there's serious shit going down all over the world. Suddenly we have this mysterious increase in natural disasters that are water related (just like some old wise ass predicted ages ago) and it seems like the whole world is headed to Hell fast. As the world gets hotter, more of the water around the world evaporates and gets turned into clouds and shit. The heat and the movement of water into the atmosphere means more winds and generally "more weather". This means that the amount of water on land is much less stable during each season, and the amount of rain is much greater. that's problematic because our topography has adapted to a pretty set level of water at any time, when the rivers suddenly have to handle lots more water than they're used to and there are more and bigger floods. This erodes the soil around the rivers and causes landslides. Also, as long as the water is in the atmosphere it traps heat which otherwise would have escaped into space, as there's more rain now, there are more clouds and more heat, which again may cause more evaporated water, rain, bla bla bla. Point is, global warming is energizing natural processes around Earth meaning they're either happening faster or with more intensity. If only we could harness this surplus energy somehow we'd be able to rid ourselves of Big Oil once and for all, and we'd be done with this fucked up bullshit, for now. What was I talking about?
