1XTRA Changes - No Flight & L Double -

Ok, people dig rnb more... But what you have to remember is that rnb is commercial
- it is pushed by the Majors... There are more interested in what sells more, not what
people actually want, ask pete waterman...

rnb has been around for 30+ years longer than dnb and you aren't going to get high
figures overnight for the dnb dj's because people drapse and pillage the boards after
the show & not stop in to hear L & Flight...

You dont have to stay at home to listen "there and then" like how it was '80s...

I can't really relate to "Hoes" & been "Shot at" because that hasn't happened to me -
I have grind the odd gal though...

Half of the Hip-hop "MC"s cant relate to their "chosen subject" neither because they are
now far removed from street life because they are rich beyond our means when they spit
there lyrics - or never actually been a hoodrat, ask jah rule...

They should have given L Double and Flight more of a chance as you cant mix and sing
at the same time, ask sonique...

And another thing, this rnb/hip-hop/jungle/dnb bookleg ting... Wasnt the whole jungle/dnb
ethic was to make tracks at home and drapse elements from other cultures?... I like rnb,
love dnb even more but I dont want to hear the same old nonsense I listen to on radio one...

I sort of respect Tim & Trevor a lot as they have been playing for ages... But they should be representing UK music more, not the next US dude who happens to be in town...

Look at all the UK Hip Hop headz who talk a lot of relavence & sense like TASK FORCE,
PHI LIFE CYPHER, KLASHNEKOFF, BRAINTAX, MD7, TWISTED LINK to name a few, but hardly
no one knows about them because Trevor or Tim doesn't was want you to know about them...

1xtra was set up to play music that wasnt in the mainstream that was the whole point. if you like chart mainstream hip hop and rnb you listen to radio 1. hip hop and rnb sells more units world wide than anyother genre of music . it dont need 1xtra . i can see it going the same way as kiss fm . when kiss went legal it was a heavy station playing tunes you would never hear on commercial stations from techno , hardcore , hip hop ( before it got raped ) they kept it real for people who liked their tunes different . but the bigger they got the more they sold out . now you can understand why this happened cos kiss isnt a giant of the media game .but the bbc is and there fucking up the whole reason for starting 1xtra

It's fucking disgraceful imo, as far as I can tell there's no other genre represented on 1Xtra which would have its output HALVED by removing two DJs' shows... D&B always suffers more imo.


I've already discussed this on the 1X message boards, I might even fucking ring up and complain, that's how strongly I feel about this.

I think the problem is that a lot of people listen to the shows from dowloads not via that crap streaing BBc thing... thats the biggest problem.. if they moved it to a podcast type thing they'd do better!...

My thoughts exactly... the sound quality is just crap, and the releases that come out on DL are much better quality... So sad to see Flights show go too, that was my favorite of all them after Baileys... Im just glad to see my fave show is still on... big ups Bailey!!! But this is a sad day indeed.

I definitely feel that someone will snatch up both of them for a better Podcast, so we will see...
 
Not all bad bailey now has two shows listened in last night & he played some wicked stuff plus you still get the dnb chart just before his wednesday slot.
 
Not good at all !!! to be honest L double wasnt really my ting,but to get rid of flight seems bloody stupid! She reprezented d&b proper imo. It was always a good spectrum of sound on her show. Big up flight! you will be missed.
 
what im fed up with is the fact you dont have the downloads for new producers on the website anymore,how shit is that and wankwood is a cock beyond all meaning of the word
 
Clearly their contracts were coming to an end, and the BBC felt the system needed a change.

Crissy's new show is BIG, every monday from 12-2, playing a huge mixture of styles!

Bailey's show is huge as ever.
 
The whole station has been through a relaunch. Not sure about only having 1 drum and bass DJ on there tbh but that's up to Andy Parfitt et al I spose.
