Not entirely sure of the major differences, aside from quite a bit in price. And ones got slightly more torque on the motor.

Want to flog my TT-1520 direct drives and go for some technics, but im torn between the 1200's or 1210's. Just wondering what the main differences are, and whether the price difference is worth it?

    Cheers

Are you mad mate? They've almost doubled in price in the last twelve months! Get top of the range Stantons instead...you'll love the pitch lock on them.

These are the decks I have, so fucking sick. The pitch control is so much more precise so going from these onto technics is a piece of piss.

    Technics >>>> everything else

Any other turntables are shit in comparison. Not opinion. Pure fact.

I got stanton st8 150s or whatever theyre called and I think they are sick the power of the torque makes technics seem limp wristed and ive had em for years and they still hold the pitch like the day i bought them. Still would like some technics aswell though

Hmm. Im in discussions about getting 2x 1210's for 400 quid. So think i'll go for that. Selling my 2 Numark TT-1520's + mixer for like 100 quid. So not too bad.

    Cheers for replies :D

Damn, in belgium it's about 700 euros for two second handed technics... Don't know where the currencies are at, but still :(

They both actually feel quite different.
The pitch seems to react differently....It might just be me though

never understood the argument of more torque
lets be honest, technics and most other turntables except belt driven badgers are fine, i don't use them and think, wow these need more torque
once they are spinning at a set speed, torque is rather irreverent.
if someone wants to explain the benefits of more torque than technics has to offer i'll happily be schooled

Thats where i think the torque comes in to play, it feels like the stantons achieve this quicker in my opinion, I aint saying technics are shite cos that would make me a fool but its all down to prefrence (y)

Basically if you can't use technics then there is no point practicing really

Managed to get 2x SL-1210 mk2's for £330 :) (£350 including postage), so im pretty chuffed.

Now the agonising wait. As ive sold my old decks, lol.

I like a lot of torque because if you touch the record, chances are it'll slow the platter, even a little. With 1210's its pretty much unnoticeable if your light on the record. (One of the reasons i upgraded and got rid of the TT-1520's)
