yep thats a pretty atrotious list.

i must admit i do like these two though:

    11. CARL COX
    12. INFECTED MUSHROOM

how do they come up with the list?
do they have some sort of criteria that they use to decide the 'best djs'? or is it just a lame comercial magazine popularity contest in which gurners vote for tEh AwEsoMesT dJ iN tEh WoRlD mANz !!!111one. ?

    I wouldn't be bothered.

Its voted on by readers and most of those readers are Dutch tranceheads.

I'd pay money to see perhaps five of the djs on the list, though I've seen maybe 25 (including Dj Sammy - SHUDDER)

Underground dance music my ass, its a list of the most popular "dj" producers of trance.

Andy C will drop off that list next year but what do we care? Its not like Dj Mag is a junglist's magazine of choice.

Man these charts haven't moved for the last 10 years I mean if you look at the top 20 from now & the top 20 in 1996 it would still be the same artists floating around like:

    Sasha
    john Digweed
    Paul Van Dyk
    Judge Jules
    Carl Cox

I'm not saying there rubbish DJ's in fact carl Cox @ Homelands was one of the most enjoyable sets I've seen but the music has come along way since then & magazines like this one need to pull their head out of their ass for once & actually look around at other artists & genres to decide who is the best DJ.
By the way I would say about 90% of these people play shit appergiated watered down trance fair play to Infected Mushroom for bring back the psy element there more of a live act then DJ's but fooking unbelieveable

How do you define somebody as the best at something? Ronaldinho is widely regarded as the worlds best footballer but i bet he'd struggle to keep a Beckham free kick outta the net if he got bunged in goal! Yeah he's a great forward but he's probably no good elsewhere. The same goes for DJ's, If you asked Paul Van Dyk to do a jungle set it would (more than likely) sound like utter toss, yet he still gets voted as the worlds best...what a fucking farce. It's a fucking popularity contest not an accurate representation of who's the most technically able. I voted, only one of the DJ's i voted for made it in to the poll at a feeble number 97 (of course it was Andy C)

If anyone wants to PM me their top 5 jungle DJ's and i'll compile a DnB top 100, Brraap!!!

I'm surprised The Egg aren't in the chart haven't they had some shit tune out which everyone is rating as amazing when it actually sounds like someone has got a Casio keyboard & combined the banging of a baken bean tin to produce some mind-numbingly boring electro-toilet-friday night I Can't dance but this tune is so simple I can pretend I like it record.
It aggrevates me that people who work hard in the industry fo years on end get no real props then someone comes along with one banger & nothing to follow up & suddenly they are the best thing since music begun.

    That's the music business :)

Anyway, this list is a load of bollocks. Reader sms = place on list. Even Felix Da Fucking Housecat isn't on it which says something about how fickle it is.

Too true mate, bollocks to it, bollocks to the whole fucking thing...the only real people who are able to judge who the best DJ's are are, of course, DJ's. Since DJmag have kind of started to loose the DJ market area and branched out into general dance music culture you do tend to get the limp wristed trance addicts buying it because it immediately makes them feel "cool". I wish they'd have kept on buying Mixmag....
