I have an epic problem that i hope one of the Genesis in this forum can help me out with.

i DJ dnb and i live 100 miles away from one of my good mates who is an MC.

i have recently linked all of my equipment up so my decks and computer all run through my amp so i can basically listen to music on my computer and mix into it at the same time.

The problem i have follows:
Ive had the idea of having a live rinse with my mate over the Internet through my computer to his and vice versa.
the only problem I'm having is that i don't know how to do it or what program i need to download to preform this international rinse out.

any ideas????

i can only think that programmes like skype, or even msn allow live speech over the net. So your mixing would be live down the 'net phone' to the mc, who then chats, and it gets recorded on your pc, along with the mixing.

There must be some way to do it like that, but god knows how!! Good luck - be interested in the answer - could do a b2b set over the net?!

go into a live web chat like userplane...then u can set up cams n mics n just play together...dunno about recording anything though.......

Not true it could be done, we do this kind of thing at my work all the time, however the basic point of your message is correct - it aint gonna happen, you need a lot of specialist equipment and expertise to do this so you're probably better off buying some train tickets and meeting up!

yeh but even still its never really "live" theres will always be a few milli-secounds delays even if you have the best equipment in the world..... a a few milli-secounds in music can make alot of difference..... unless you know exactly how much your out by and then your could sort that out in post production.... i.e... record the live feed that coming in from somewhere else on a different channel and then move it in the correct position afterwards.... thats a possible way of doing it.... but you could'nt listen to what he's saying live... would put you off...... this could be done i suppose with a normal feed.....??

you will need to use Cubase/Logic or something like that...... but you will also need a mixing desk of sort... software/hardware.... to be able to choose the two inputs to record on different channels......

then move the incoming streams recording into place.... might take a while to get it perfect.
