Friday 8th of June marks the arrival of a brand new This Way Up – an extraordinary event in an extraordinary place.

Residing on Queen Mary ship-turned-club docked on Thames river next to Waterloo Bridge This Way Up is the only party in London fusing sounds of futuristic technical / neurofunk drum’n’bass and subheavy urban virus known as dubstep with great atmosphere and sexy ladies galore.

The overall aim of the night is to present more sophisticated sounds of electronic dance music, the ones you cannot regularly hear in London but which are massively popular in places like Europe / USA / Asia etc., and build the event up to mark regular London clubbing map on a monthly basis.

This month we continue to showcase some of the most cutting edge talent in both D’n’B and Dubstep rooms. Additionally this time D’n’B arena will be presented on Abacus Sounds rig so be prepared for truly damaging sound experience!

Drum and Bass Voyage is going to be hosted by:

BLACK SUN EMPIRE [BSE/OBSESSIONS/DSCI4] - living legend in the world of Drum and Bass this dj/producer trio is responsible for some of the most devastating singles and albums out there. Collaborators of the legendary Kemal [Konflict], Noisia, Cause4Concern and Illskillz are now touring the world promoting the latest compilation album on their BSE imprint called “Endangered Species”. If you like your D’n’B trance and techno fuelled be sure not to miss their exclusive DJ set in London!

MASHEEN [DSCI4/SUDDEN DEF/SINUOUS] – taking technoid D’n’B by storm with his recent audio output and becoming an A&R for the most important neurotech labels in the UK – the mighty DSCI4 Recordings – the man behind the name Masheen is most definitely the one to watch. With the dubplate ammunition strong enough to knock Mechagodzilla out prepare for a seriously damaging showcase!

KHANAGE [OFFKEY/OHM RESISTANCE USA] – Together with Lethal making for deadly production team from east London famous for their American releases on Bill Laswell’s own OHM Resistance and Obliterati Recordings. With ultra heavy hot single on Offkey imprint and much more sickness in the pipeline there’s no stopping them!

METRIK [ELP COLLECTIVE] – affiliated with one of the most innovative Tech-D’n’B labels ELP Metrik is a dj/producer from Brighton whose exclusive remix of classic DK8 “Murder Was The Bass” techno stomper got played worldwide by Brookes Brothers, Bad Company, Cold Fusion, Kano, Masheen, Identity and The Sect to name a few. Be sure to check out what badass new material he’s got for us this time!

BLAL [SOUND ARTILLERY/FLATLINE AUDIO/LAB] – regarded as one of the fastest up’n’coming drum and bass producers in the UK Blal has recently been busy djing in both England and Europe. Both his heavy industrial dancefloor tracks and infamous studio tan needs checking out!

DISPLACED [RUSE RECORDS] - Fressssssshhly redesigned with hin mullet cut off and moustache shaved he’s coming strong with the light and dark neuro licks and the looks to make all the girls salivate extensively AND shake their booties! Also one of the masterminds behind This Way Up concept.

IZM [THIS WAY UP] – a.k.a Clangmaster Flex, famous for writing his 5 page long myspace profiles in 3rd person, name dropping, messy scratching, hating on cd and mp3, slacking with studio mixes (and everything else) and promoting this very event together with the promotional mix will be bringing you upfront vinyl heaviness so be ready (and u dunno)!

    Room 2 / Dubstep

DJ CHEF [RINSE FM LONDON / TRANSITION STUDIOS] - www.myspace.com/dj_chef - if we are to name one selector who was instrumental in putting the name like Dubstep on the worldwide music map it has to be the legendary Rinse FM radio resident Chef. Officially the 1st DJ to ever play Skream’s massive “Request Line” Chef is also Transition Studio cutting house’s affiliate spinning the hottest dubplates out there. So if you want to know what fresh off the producers’ hdd’s cuts are on the circuit and what releases to look out for in the following months – represent!

KROMESTAR [DUBSTEPPERS / TEMPA / HOTFLUSH] –www.myspace.com/iron_soul_aka_kromestar – responsible for one of the heaviest dubstep tunes ever made – “Kalawanji” this South London dj/producer has established his position in the Bass world thanks to his tracks being featured on the already classic Dubstep Allstars compilations on Tempa. Be sure to check out what fresh plates he’s got for us on 8th of June!

CESSMAN - www.myspace.com/cessman - Kromestar’s partner in bass crime will be gracing our event with some subheavy frequencies.

INASIN [7 DAY SESSION / RESONANT EVIL] - www.myspace.com/7daysession - we have invited 7 Day
Session crew for the last event and guess what? They smacked it so heavily we decided to bring their sound back for all of those who missed it the 1st time around! Already well known in the D’n’B world from the Resonant Evil collaborations and with fresh off the pressing plant “War Hawk” 12inch single on the 7 Day Session imprint you know it’s bound to be one off the hook showcase by Inasin!

ROOTSTEADY SELECTA [ROOTSTEADY SOUNDS] - www.myspace.com/rootsteady - originally from France this highly skilled turntable technician will be bringing you cutting edge sounds of Electro Dub and much more.

HXW [ABACUS] - www.myspace.com/meleisis - having djed alongside such dubstep heavyweights such as Kode9 and N Type this dj/producer is just gaining momentum. Make your way to the dub room to hear what new output he is to unleash this time.

RAMADANMAN [BARE DUBS] www.myspace.com/ramadanman - up’n’coming dubstep disciple has just got his 1st vinyl release on limited edition 10inch plate from Bare Dubs label. Sub FM pirate radio resident will be dropping some storming new material to make the basslines be heard all over Thames River.
