After what was without a doubt our biggest party to date back in October last year, Soltek returns on Friday 11th March again at The Gramaphone. Sticking true to our ethos of showcasing some of the freshest, most forward-thinking bass music around, we’re proud to present the legendary Metalheadz duo Commix headlining on the night with a special, rare 90-minute set. This promises to be huge!

Having been producing drum & bass for the past decade, the production duo George Levings and Guy Brewer, aka Commix have established themselves as one of the scene’s key innovators.

Signed to Goldie’s renowned label Metalheadz back in 2005, the boys went on to create anthems such as ‘Satellite Song’, ‘Urban Legend’ and ‘If I Should Fall’ before releasing their remarkable debut album “Call To Mind” on the imprint in 2007.

Regarded as a defining moment in drum & bass' history, the album brimmed with classic tracks such as 'Be True', 'Japanese Electronics', 'Satellite Type 2' and ‘How You Gonna Feel' (feat. Steve Spacek) and was subject to widespread critical acclaim. Having been the first and only artist album ever released on Goldie’s seminal label, to this day it has been considered by many of the scene’s major figureheads and followers as the best drum & bass album ever made.

Fast forward to 2009 and the release of ‘Re:Call To Mind’, which saw their debut album receive the remix treatment from some of dance music’s most respected artists including the likes of Burial, Marcel Dettmann, Underground Resistance and Instra:mental. The comp went on to receive a nomination for Best Compilation at DJ Mag’s ‘Best of British Awards’ last year among other notable praises.

Now working on their 2011 follow-up album, again for Goldie's Metalheadz, if there's one thing you can be sure of it is that you can expect something altogether different the third time around. We can’t wait to have Commix grace the decks for what will no doubt be an unmissable set!
