THE WIP THREAD

Much apologies... I don't get a chance to post much on here and don't know all the 'rules' since I have a full time job and this is a hobby for me (an addictive one). I meant no disrespect. It won't happen again.

Thank you for correcting me.

This is not how it works. Comment on the wip in the post before you when posting you wip.

Give some. Get some.

Private track so use link.

Still kind of struggling to make this kind of style work... for me it's hard not to have too much going on.. or make it flow well.
Thanks for a listen.

Loving this. Big sound (how the fuck do you get it so loud?!), full of energy. Drums seem a little lost amongst the mix though, try and get them to pop out front a little more. Could be my headphones though, they're pretty weak and the missus is asleep so can't blast it out the speakers. Will have another listen later. Would love to bag a finished copy. Send me the full track when it's done. Or a link to purchase :bone:

So, taken on board some of the great feedback I had. Fuck knows what was happening with my snare, turns out it was one of the samples I was using. Phase was all over the place. Had to stick a pan with 60% left to centralise it. Bizarre. Need to add some variation to the bass line, it's a bit...repeatey. More sounds and variations added, bit more EQing, still not great but hey, we all gotta start somewhere. Kinda hard when I only get two or three hours a week to play about.

Edit: I don't like the hihat panning I've done. That's getting fixed.

great stereo on the drums. that bass synth is wierd but i actually like it. overall pretty decent track.. keep up the good work!

Heres something i have been working on. Lately i started listening to hiphop alot and kinda started producing it.. Heres something thats actually not dnb but i guess some of you might like it.

Dat bass. (y) lovin' it. Cool little woodblock thing in the background too.
The snare's not popping enough for me though. The tail sounds great but it doesn't have that initial "smack" if you know what I mean? Overall great vibe, would definitely drop this in a set! Finish it up for sure! Interested to see what kind of an intro you create for this one.

Awesome drum sound in intro.. I am hearing some glitchy distorted stuff in there that should get sorted out. Nice build up. Love that wavy gravy bassline. Way cool man. The rise to the buildup kind of needs a much more powerful breakdown at 2:17 or whatever imo. Some great sounds. Keep up the good work. Love that bassline start.

Here is something a little different for me. Kind of dubsteppy type sounds a little with DnB. Original vocals - are demo'd by my wife, track has been sent to my cousin (lucky me she is a true professional vocalist) for vocals.; Hearing my wife sing is like hearing myself, too close to the voice I can't have much view whether the sound good or not.

Does the format work? No breakdown in the track. Composition is about 80% done, need to break up some of the monotony in there. Thanks for a listen.

Sounding nice mate, very interesting, I love the progression throughout the intro :) The reeses are nice and gutsy, My only suggestion would be strip back some elements of the track about 16 bars before the rolling beat to let it breathe before the transition from a half time to a rolling beat, but it might just personal preference :)

Heres my track, still needs a further mixdown atm but this is 90% done, tried to keep a dark minimal atmosphere throughout (apologies for not embedding, private track)

Oh god that vocal is fucking awesome... Where did you got those?
On the track: not much to comment on, sounding good... A little too much reverb going on for my personal taste on those background hits, but thats all..
Maybe turn the little distorted bits and the vocal up

little loop I made yesterday :D

Think the drums need to be a bit louder, but anyway it's very early days on this.

Wow dude, i really like it!

The snare game is on and the bass got a really dark and atmospheric feeling to it wich i love..

But i don't think i have anything constructive feedback to give you at this point but keep working on that i'd love to hear the complete track!

Okey so here's my contribution, it's not even near comeplete but it's getting there.. slowly.

The volume is pretty low due to it not being mastered yet and i havent eq'd it any further than the primery touches..

here's a wip im working on, got the drop kinda settled now, but dead end with intro
(click the link, if it wont work at first)

Sounds really nice. Only thing I can give opinion on is I don't think the hissy snare type percussion that hits once a bar or two sits well. Nice smooth sound though you should finish the track :)/

Also,
Tenka - great stuff... hard sound yet smooth, really good. Yes get it mastered and get it out playing on the dancefloor.

Here is a cut of a track I just started this weekend.. kind of a harder floor type stuff....

Oh wow thanks! I was just getting a bit fed up with people just putting their wips here and expecting feedback without doing anything
here it is https://soundcloud.com/deltadnb/redemption/s-EZ18w

On your wip: I love the idea/concept/however you call it. with some polishing I would definitely bag this and play it in sets.
When you get this finished i'd love to have a 320 ^^ (if your not planning on releasing it)

The intro is a bit lacking.. Put some more little stuff in fx/atmospheres in.
The bass coming in is a bit loud (maybe some reverb on the high end of the bass?)
Personally, not a huge fan of the vocal.. It gives to much of a hardstyle feel.. (again, personal taste)z
Fill the drums up a bit, maybe grab a break, low pass it, put it underneath.

Then, the drop:
What I would advice: Split the bass up. Get the sub to be the same volume all the time (because I think it is dropping and rising a bit now)
Turn the volume of the drums down a bit, that bass may should get more on the front.
It could use a bit more punch, but I think that will get fixed (maybe partially) with the bass getting more room.

And don't get me wrong, I give this much feedback/criticisms because I really think this could be an awesome tune :D

Thanks mate, appreciate it!

And yeah some feedback..
It's dark so it's right up my alley...
The drums sounds very acustic and i know it's a wip but i would like to hear some more atmospheric sounds because at sometimes it sounds a little bit empty.
But overall great production man and yeah the bass is good but i agree with Crizis on this matter, split it up and make it more prominent in the mix.

Hey i love it man!
The drums are tight and the snare is out of this world, good atmosphere with a jazzy sound to it.

And what is that sample? morgan freeman in oh yeah that explains the title.

Tough i don't have any constructive feedback to give cuz to me it sounds kinda complete, a great production, you know what you are doing.

And here's a track that is completed but i really need somebody else's perspective on the mastering/eq'ing sound quality.

Tenka wow heavy drums and bass is realllyyyy gritty, i like it! and like the movie sound clip u have!! nice work, get it mastered maan! :D

Oh dude sorry forgot to give you feedback :P

First of, thanks man gritty was what i was going for :)
And about your track, i actually like it.. it's dreamy and everything comes togheter real nice and smooth.

I don't really know what more to say, but maybe some breaks? or mixing of the closed hi-hat.. i personally think that the breaks are very important in this kind of drum and bass. Liquid right?

Obviously breaks are important to every sub genre of DnB but i think that it's very important to fill out the space between the kick and the snare since you don't have crazy basslines and midrange stuff going all over the place in the mix, that's a complete diffrent kind of DnB :P

I have some really well produced break sample pack in 174 BPM actually if you want?
The breaks are from musicradar maybe you have them, maybe not i don't know :P but if you like i'd upload it for you.

Such sweet sound and good enough to live up to that vocal sample. It makes me feel like I'm hearing a long forgotten song I used to love years ago. Good job, I would love a download.

Only technical aspect is there is a knock/stick/drum type sound in the beginning around 1:00 or so just for a little bit that hits kind of weird, maybe throw some reverb on there to diffuse it a little.

Here is that track finished Crizis ended up being even more hardstyle lol...

Oh thanks :D big ups!
And I'm pretty proud on that snare yea, I don't know why that snare worked out so well...

On your tune: just going to give feedback as I get trough the song:
Intro: maybe a little bit of a pad on the background, the pluck/arp/synth is a bit to alone I feel. Just a little bit, don't add to much.
Buildup is awesome. No remarks. Like really. Awesome.

The drop, hmm, After a buildup like that, it was a bit underwhelming.. I expected some heavy neurofunk bussiness
But god, those little heavy parts (at 1:54 for example) are wicked. I expected something like those basses right after the buildup, and the first part from the drop as a second part of the drop (if you know what I'm trying to say here)

The main part was a bit long, maybe get a full on breakdown in there, so the buildup gets the full impact again (cuz that buildup is nasty)

Alright, I just noticed that you actually wanted feedback on the mastering/eqing. hehe.. sorry..
Nothing sound bad though, the levels seem good, eq same..seems to be all good!

Thanks! Great words!
I'll look into that drum thing, thanks

On the download: I would put this up for a free download, but maybe I could get it released... If it takes too long though I'll just send it trough

And on your track: def sounds better though! Drums sound better, and the same for the bass!
