    MP3 Greg J - Class Is In Session, a 1992 selection, (12/??/03)

This is a new mix I received in the mail by 'ardkore record collector, Greg Johnson of California. I first heard it posted as a low quality mp3 on B2TOS message board and was completely blown away by the mixing and selection. I can only compare his live mixing to the computer mixing of the "Hit The Decks" CD series. That is, the mixing is so fast and quick, you'd think your listening to a computer, not a human. I don't know how he managed to do it, but he did. I'm guessing he takes all the records out of the sleaves first to cut down on time spent doing that. He also manages to mix in some old rap accapellas which sounds nice at times, but tiresome in others. Greg also found the time inbetween his speed mixing to do some scratching. Lastly, the tracks are a nice blend of old favorites and tunes I've never heard before EVER!

Technicly its the best mixing I've ever heard and if Greg is as good at promoting himself as he is at mixing, he'll surly land himself some gigs out there in California land. I, on the other hand, suck at promoting myself and so I just don't bother except for internet msg boards.

Really a great set, but I think some mixes have been made in PC, then burned to CD and then mixed with vinyl.

    Re: Greg J - Class Is In Session, a 1992 selection, (12/??/03)

Hello folks... I am a brandnew member ...hopefully I don't forget to look after the rules if there are any

i listened to the above posted mix... quite cool although mr. j still has to improve on scratching techniques... but the mix is fine anyway...

my question: I would like to buy some of those records (maybe this is worth a smile) but first wanna listen if i have found the right one on ebay or similiar. there seem to be no mp3 online like on soulseek or winmx ...

are those tracks so rare or why aren't they shared? as i said i just wanna listen to them before buying all of the records from the mix...

someone got an idea where i can listen to single tracks of the mix? thanx for the help

Think again, I don't do or condone any computer mixing. I'm a turntables only kind of guy, unless you need to use a CDJ to play your own productions.

However, the speed really isn't as impressive when I let you in on the secret that I used 4 turntables for this mix ... if you pay attention a little more closely you'll notice that one out of every few records will play for considerably longer than the rest. I would have been getting 3 other records cued up to go through more quickly. Nothing incredibly stressful, all of the records were in their sleeves, and because I take care of my old vinyl, they all went back in their sleeves pretty much right after I played them .... but they were set in a stack that I played in a planned out order.

Yeah greg quite amazing mix! I almost thought you had 52 turntables with all the tunes cued up and set at the same speed Listening to your set from Bassrush right now, pure wickedness!

We are enjoying the mix A LOT.

Had to send on to a few who will also appreciate.

I was looking for a full length version of Acen "Close your eyes" (don't expect to find beatles sample, but you never know).. Any ideas?
    Peace

yea i have 2 agree with 92, sum of the accepelas (sp?) were a bit anoyin and sum of the scratchin wasa a bit of but apart from that this mix blew me away, ur level is where i hope 2 b one day. sum the accepelas remind me of a mix by krome and time and sum other ppl, its quite nice mix and wud luv to get id'd sum of the tnes that i really want, how do i give u the mix 92? i also have one by carl cox and ratty and a few old skool D&B ones. the krome and time 1 is the best tho!

    WOW!

this mix is so damn cool. the oldskool scene is pretty much dead down here in sydney nowadays. we had a bit of a revival a few years ago but now none of the noobies are interested.

its great to be able to find material that ive nevr heard before. i cant wait to listen to some of the other mixes on this site. anyone recommend anything that is similar to this.

is anyone able to id the tracks between about 3:30 and 5:30
im especially after the name of the track that kicks in at 4:38
