I started a blog series where I write in detail about creating a tune from start to finish. Here's the first episode, complete with a few screenshots and audio of the progress:

http://benkama.com/2011/06/15/journal-entry-1-the-pain-of-creation/

All clips are and will be downloadable in case you get inspired by something and feel like doing your own version - if you use them somewhere please let me know.

Also all feedback on the journal itself is more than welcome!

When it's finished, the tune will be released for free.

nice tune you got going there! and a very nice read aswell! big up :)

Awesome read, it put me in some writing mood. Also, was kinda ''meh'' with the 1. melody, but I got reaaaaally hooked up as soon as u changed it. Also props for writing down ur whole process.

Very nice.

Quick FL question; when you make the drum loops, do you use the step sequencer or do you put each hit straight onto the playlist?

you use the adsr on fl's sampler? find it kinda inaccurate, using transient shapers and the fade out options mostly atm .. :/

Depends... I find it adequate for most tasks, of course compression and gating is another thing. How do you mean inaccurate?

As it happens my most used filter is also the FL Studio sampler channel filter :D
