    Re: DJ Equipment

    www.decks.co.uk comes recomended
if u haven't got an amp I'd say look for some active monitors, there's loads of threads about which needles to get and it's all down to personal taste. Don't get the real cheap shit and stick to a well known brand within your price range!
    Enjoy

Stantons don't slide accross teh record when they gather dust...concordes do. hence when it comes to needles. Stantons or Shure's are for me.

You can pick up a cheap amp at argos . A 50 w/ channel and a decent pair of cambridge audio will do just fine for your room. Remember its a room not a club, and if you get it to sound like a club your neighbors are soon going to hate you hard. get nice OFC cable from richer sounds ..spend a fair bit on this.

headphones are important I like the pioneers but they are 150 quid.....slipmats are cheap, get some furniture polish, spray onto a cloth ( not direct onto plate of turntable) and give it a damn good polish. That will make it nice and slippy.

wow you splashed out BIG. nice one man.

www.decks.co.uk already been recommended but its really good. also Amazon sell headphones for a reasonable price, i got my Seinhessers from there for 11, not the bes headphones but they do the job!

    Good Luck.

I think Vestax's might have one. Havn't heard anything bad about them... but your right about 250 is spot on for a decent 2 channel mixer.

    Some recommendations:
    http://www.google.co.uk/products?hl=...ed=0CCQQrQQwAg

These are fantastic entry level monitor speakers. Anything with Mackie on it is audio gold, and for 240ish for a pair, you really can't go wrong. Also, if you ever decide you wanted to get into producing, these would serve perfectly for that as well.

If you've got more money to spend, I'd go for the MR8s, as you get an 8" basket as opposed to a 5" one.

As for needles, it really depends on your own preference. I have and alway will love Ortofons. For me, there is no substitute. Different strokes for different folks though :P
