Previewing Audio Files In Ableton Live

I'm currently using Ableton Live on a Windows laptop, and was wondering whether there is a way to preview audio tracks whilst browsing through samples.

I have an external hard drive containing most of my samples in wav format but if I want to put a break over something, I currently have to drag the whole contents of a folder into an audio track on Live, then listen to each sample in turn, either deleting or moving into a 'maybe section' before repeating the process til I get to a break, hit or sample I feel sounds good.

How can I browse through my folders of samples and hear what certain samples sound like before importing them into my workspace?

    Cheers, Alexi

there is a file browser on the left, just click on the wav, it should play, stop with space, shift+return play again, un can also pre-hear midi files, u have to click on the headphones at the bottom of the file browser. u can even pre-hear at different bpm. one of the killer features of live, popup browsing made me going crazy in other DAWs

I always forget about the side browser, as I always have it open on my VSTs & just leave it, but that browser sounds perfect, cheers mate
