Recording samples outdoors etc - good equipment

hi all, im thinking of buying a digital recorder to samples sounds and was wondering if any of you have experience with equipment that picks up sound well outdoors and isnt too expensive

how much is it? I cant see the price.

Nutek decent mics/recording equipment can make the difference between good and great production
 
yeh gonna keep that in mind but gonna have to dig deeper. there any cheaper recorders that work well with an external mic?

EDIT: amazon does it for £330 with 4gb card and tripod

its about 300 quid mate, bigness though, records to 320kps mp3 as standard!

theres the H2 which is about 160

mini disc?? i reckon you could get good results with a decent mic and a portable recording interface

in fact... you may even get fairly good results with just the mini disc, a good dynamic mic and a 6mm-3.5mm jack adapter..... guess it depends on what your recording, and how important the quality needs to be
