i have only just started lookin at fruityloops.. seems like its all down to sampling, or spending a while programming your own sounds to import.

how do you mean oldskool sound?

like... get 3 good oldskool breaks (preferrably less resolution than 44100), 1 sub (crystal), the jungle call fx and a gunshot. And sample some raga vox off a dub channel. And a reggae drum fill. And some hardcore strings (you know the ones). AND A BLUDCLOTH RAVE SYNTH. The rest is pretty much obvious.

that help any? I can probably hook you up with some samples if you ask nicely.

Re: old skool jungle production tips?

you need to open up that beat slicer program with some thinks, solprides,
or amens, BUT DONT USE THE MESSED UP BEAT SLICER, just look and
see were it makes the dermarkations for element changes timewise,
then open up another sound editor, and chop the beat up your self,
so you can preserve stereo and everything. Next save all the parts of the
chopped up beat, then incorporate back into Fruityloops or whatever
tracker through the sampler. You can label them think1 think2 think3
etc. to how many parts you had chopped up. You can load up the
low quality sliced up beat to see where the program puts each part
of the beat, then you can ditch that and load it yourself with the
beat you sliced yourself. Then play around with placing the downbeats,
snares and high hats at different places. Try to have a running cymbal
line going on in there some where, it helps with ambience of the
beat, and then break it up with no cymbals and stuttered stabs from
the bass drum and snares. Peace.

    hey
if you say that u wanna make an oldskool stylee track
than u should listen to oldskool and get elements that were populary used at that time
like hoover shit and amen breaks [for a stupid examples]
    btw
then there was allot of different and original stuff so if u wanna do somthing oldskool do it ORIGINAL (!)

    get some samplz and vstz+dxz

    good luck!

Re: old skool jungle production tips?

    top 5 things to do

    1). chipmonked vocals
    2). stutter edits
    3). 1988 acid house cords
4). rising and falling sine wave bass
5). big drops every 8 to 16 measures

top 5 things to NOT do

1). filters (filters are for gay house)
2). 303s (josh wink ruined this sound for everyone)
3). 2-step beats (save this for UKG ehh)
4). trance sounds (thanks Jaun B.. NOT!)
5). drops that last too long (save the drama for dubs to give to Jr. Vasquez)
