You might not need one, i dont use one, i just use my ears and if it sounds right then that does me.

my ears arent good enough. sometimes high sounds a have low end - that you dont expect and maybe cant hear too well.
this muddies up yer track - if you dont spot it. Using an analyser is a helpfull tool.

I use the rob nichol and i dont think there is anything better. the waves one doesn't really compete
