Anyone else get a glitch sometimes where you have an automation clip controlling say filter cutoff, then you delete that clip but the filter cutoff will reset back to the first automation clip point value when you start the track again? Fucking annoying, normally have to redo the VST

Ye i have that happen to all of the controls when i've automated one part, so i usually have to use limiters to adjust the volume whenever this happens.

    have no fear boys

    when this happens:
browser > current project > initizialised controls > delete the one giving you grief

its not a glitch it's a relic of the automation clip

Re: The FL Studio thread (share tips, tricks, secrets etc.)

Hi Guys, New to these forums,

I have a burning question to ask of someone with experience using Fl studio 10.

What i want to do is be able to apply an automated filter to just my drum channels at points in the multitrack sequencer, I.e i don't want the filter effecting other elements just the drums.

All my drums/instruments are assigned to there own channels in the mixer and each have different Eq and compression settings so i cant just assign them all to the same channel.

I have been told it is possible to somehow assign each instrument channel to a send channel and the just apply the filter to the send and automate??? But for the life of me i can't work out how to do it?

If someone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated?

I have tried making a sub-mix from each instrument channel to a send channel but then they all just take on each others effects! and that's not what i want at all. Quite simply all i what to do is apply an effect/filter to about 5 different channels and then automate without affecting each of there own unique effect channels.

Hope someone here can help, cheers guys

what you do mate is go through your mixer channels 1 by 1 that you want to send to the send channel. as you click on kick drum channel for instance, you thenlook at the send channel and you will see a volume dial, turn that volume up and you have just sent your kick to the send channel. also don't forget to turn the volume dial down on the master channel in the same way or you will have a double kick going on. sorry for my shit explanation but it would be easier to show with pictures.

awesome that's what im after! thanks very much.

also I've just worked out u can assign a fruity send from each channel I want to the send channel and automate that way aswel. is this doing exactly the same thing as how you've described above does?

also when u say turn down on the master channel the same amount I've put through the sendI I take it u mean the send channels master? I want the signal sent through at 100% but I do see when I do this as u say it is doubled. hope I make sense

sorry for the noob questions, just learning all the ins and outs

    cheers

Re: The FL Studio thread (share tips, tricks, secrets etc.)

Have been having a good play round with both methods and sadly i doesn't seem to be able to do what i want it too exactly...

As you say i have to adjust my master level of the send channel otherwise its doubling up. But when you turn down the master to compensate with the method mentioned above and the fruity send method, the affect I'm adding to the linked channels is only effecting the linked instruments partially due to the send master being turned down

I wont it to fully effect them as Im putting a low pass filter on them, no good having the filter on partially effecting them... When the send master is at 100% it obviously does but then I've got doubled up sounds (too loud)

I would turn each instruments mixer channel down to compensate but i'm only adding this filter in pieces of the track and don't wanna be effecting the levels throughout...

there maybe something simple i havn''t seen to fix this, if anyone can understand my problem and knows how i should go about it please let me know?

Otherwise i think im just going to bounce down the pattern i want to filter to wav and filter in cool edit pro then pop it back in the track.

okay let me try and explain. when you click on say your kick channel. you will see a volume knob with a yellow kinda arrow underneath it on the master channel. you can either turn that volume knob down or just click the arrow so it disappears, that way your kick is not going to the master channel anymore. then while kick channel is still highlighted you just turn the knob on your send channel and voila your kick is now routed through the send channel. the send channel is still routed to the master channel so your kicknow goes via that route instead of straight to the master channel.
hope that makes sense to you. it took me a while to grasp the concept but honestly once you suss it out you'll be slapping your head wondering why it took so long to work out.
i'll have a butchers for some video tutorials and post the link here for ya.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnowZ4_Iiuc

check out this vid. as you will see your not limited to the send channels and also depending on what your doing you may still want the volume going to the master channel, if i bus my drums to a send channel just for compression i will mute them from the master but if i send things for slight reverb etc then i will just adjust the send channel volume to apply whatever effect i want at whatever rate.
just watch the vid and have a play around and you'll soon get how limitless the possibilities are.
    all the best

your right about just experimenting as such, im back home living with my mum at moment and the sounds she had to put up with cranking out of my room! haha. pretty much just teaching myself how to do everything at moment, with help from good old google and reading countless tutorials.

have had enough of ripping it up on the dance floor so time to start producing. going to MAINZ next year to study audio engineering and production, can't wait..
