    IBS Depreciation

I've got Irritable bowel syndrome so I can't have curry, coffee, tea, beer, or anything else that I like.

    It's fucking shit

    That is all

That is some bad news, bro! Nothing a good smoke and a session in the studio won't fix, though.

    Re: IBS Depreciation

I experienced that shit for 2, 3 years of my life. A living nightmare or to be more accurate, a living hell. I didn't stop drinking beer, it was the only thing that helped with the symptoms - I had to drink 2 or 3 beers to feel human and stop the pain/nonpain (if you haven't had IBS, you can't really understand it).

Sex and work helped me get over it. I sometimes get paranoid it will come back.

Stay away from herbal remedies - they only worsen your condition!
I'll be back one day. Beware.

    Re: IBS Depreciation

I've had IBS for about 10 years now.
I still eat and drink whatever I want, although occasionally I still have some chronic rough times with my guts. But on top of medication, I have a bowl of All-Bran, three sachets of Fibogel and lots of water everyday, which is enough to keep me feeling alright.
Its about finding what works for you, some people like to use medication, some like using healthy food full of fibre and minerals. Find out what works for you and stick to it

I think the fact that I cured my chronic depression most helped with my IBS going away.

I eat and drink what I want though a rough Saturday does have a result on Monday (I must have an allergy to alco!) but there's plenty of fiber and water in my diet. Fiber can however worsen your condition!

    Re: IBS Depreciation

while we're at it, I have colitis which is very closely related and basically same symptoms except I get 'attacks' of it, and other times its normal.
beer can actually make it worse too, for me anyway ...

you're right Dustek, its related to stress and anxiety for me too

    Re: IBS Depreciation

I went to the Docs. thinking I was suffering from IBS. He thought I was too, until we realised that eating loadsa Crunchy Nut Cornflakes could have caused it.

No Crunchy Nut Cornflakes, less caffeine, and I'm fine. No IBS!

    Very uncomfortable while it lasted.

    Re: IBS Depreciation

I've been finding out loads of people have it, didn't think it was that common but it really varies.

I think when it's stress related it's much worse, I'm not really stressed in the slightest so I couldn't figure out why I was getting it. Cutting out beer is more a preventative measure right now, once you feel a bit rough it doesn't take much to make it a shitload worse.

Wiping out milk and caffeine has helped loads, just trying to keep myself feeling alright for as long as I can and hopefully I'll be able to get back on some of the stuff I've had to quit.

    It's fucking shit though.

I know myself, that I'm quite I stressy person.

If you are stressy / anxious as a person, then (I think) you tend not to know, cos you're used to it...

    Re: IBS Depreciation

had a mate who was lactose intolerant but didnt know til he was 20. poor dude thought it was normal to have major bowel problems his whole life up til then.
turned out fine, but he is way shorter than his brother, paertly due to malnutrition as a child.
