I know I keep posting a lot about Goldie playing in Shanghai, but this was a very special night for us here. It was pinnacle of the chinese dnb scene reaching maturity. It was the result of a lot of people's persistance and hard work to get it where it is right now.
As it is, there are a few soldiers dotted around in cities, pushing the sound no matter what. Because of their persistance in refreshing the ears of the chinese youth, we have a small but healthy scene. Because of people like Jane (DJ Siesta) we have standards that we can now work towards, as a whole.
There's something inspiring about watching something grow, whether it's a puppy, a plant, or a person. And it's even better if you don't have to wait years and years for the gratification of watching something to reach maturity. Phreaktion's drum'n'bass events have been steadily growing in popularity and for Phreaktion founder Siesta the gratification of watching Shanghai's drum'n'bass scene mature was undeniable at Goldie's performance last night at Bonbon. Siesta and the Phreaktion crew must be in bliss right now knowing they've pulled off an incredible thing by creating such a healthy and vibrant drum'n'bass scene in Shanghai. They've watched it grow, nurtured it, drawing in more fresh new faces, and creating a truly positive vibe as the events continue to get better and better and better. And this means that the scene we contribute to will get better and better. It is something that I am very proud and honoured to be a part of.
Btw that's me behind Goldie in the box, dicking around with some records.
I'm not too keen on getting into photos, especially with me taking so many anyways.
The Hull City shirt is always funny though
@dustek - of course you can use the photos mate, that's what they're there for
@logikz - yeah we hung out with Goldie. Him and Lowqui got picked up from the airport, and then we met up with Dave Specialist and went to dinner. After the gig, we all went back to the hotel and carried on partying, and Dave and LQ turned his room upside-down.
Goldie's one of the safest bloke I've ever met, and funny as shit, he went on a 10 minute random outburst about how Jane tits need attention, while she was in the room. One of the funniest things I've ever heard 'My tits need attention like a gayboy needs man-fat'
Oh and his metalheadz tees aren't available yet, but should be available soon via the new MDZ website, when they finish it. As for the yellow tee in the pic, he traded it with some guy in the crowd.
