THE CRYSTAL METHOD DJ Set!
www.thecrystalmethod.com | Los Angeles
Ever since they started making their first singles in the mid 90’s out of the Bomb Shelter--their congested home studio in Los Angeles, California--Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland of The Crystal Method have held strong as forerunners of the electronic music revolution in America. A Grammy nomination; a slot on Linkin Park’s recent monster benefit for their Music For Relief fund; catwalk DJ’s for Rock ‘N Republic’s Fall 2004 Los Angeles Fashion Week show; and “Community Service,” their popular Friday night weekly radio show on Indie 103.1 FM--these are all small parts of what makes up The Crystal Method’s overall recent presence. The follow-up mix album in 2005 is dedicated to bringing fans the freshest and most exciting selections in what they love most: break-beat music.

Uberzone is the brainchild of southern California native Q (named after the "gizmo" -loving James Bond character). Like his namesake, Q is a die-hard collector of all things electronic, and has been collecting electronic-music gear since his early teens. His early singles, "Botz" and "The Freaks", released on taste-maker indie dance label City of Angels, were critically acclaimed club tracks that established Q as one of the leading American producers of breakbeat music. These singles were charted consistently by DJs like Florida's DJ Icey and the UK's Adam Freeland, among others. His remixes of Sarah McLachlan, The Crystal Method and BT also established him as one of the biggest names in the American dance scene. Spin Magazine named Uberzone as one of the six producers to create "the biggest beats ever."
INFLUENZA
Pure Phunk | www.sickbeats.com | www.nexusartists.com | Vancouver, BC
The cold front hovering Canada’s west coast music scene has recently warmed to the breakbeat sound. A whole new culture has taken hold. This radical change of climate has unleashed a ‘Nu’ epidemic from Vancouver: the duo known as Influenza. Symptoms may include feverish bass, infectious groove, and a nasty case of funk. (Onset is immediate and there is no known cure.) Jason Craig (Oddmud), who had been spinning breaks for 2 years at that point, decided he wanted to take it to the studio. For this, he found both a mentor and partner in Jeff Malcolm (Psidream); and conveniently for him, Jeff had already logged his share of years in the studio.
