I agree that sometimes things can get over complicated but a lot of drum and bass these days the kicks are lost in the mix because all the other sounds seem to take preference. Ive done it the way you said before and it does work but depending on the track i think sometimes you need to push things a little more to really get that kick coming through.

all sounds a bit too technical.... Just find a kick you like and if it sounds good use it... simple really..... i doubt many household names ponder for months over a kick

The thread is about making kicks, not finding them. Someone had to make all of those kicks we all sort through, they didn't just find them and relea-oh...
