Kick and sub bass question

And when I feel the bass is a bit overpowering when the kick hits, I get a bit of sub out of the kick. Yes out of the kick. I like my kicks punchy, not subby.

Thanks guys for all your input. That seems like a very sound advice - kicks gotta be punchy not subby lol. Props man.

We make a track with the kick and snare copied, muted, then use that as the sidechain input on the Bass and Sub bus.
