Thoughts?

Could be amazing, could be shit, could help push the cost of pressing vinyl down???

Could make Technics parts cheaper?

I'm pretty sure Panasonic owns Pioneer, so I don't think this will be any worse than a 1200. Can't wait to snatch up a set of Technics for pennies once this table comes out.

Looks like I was wrong about Panasonic owning Pioneer. Either way, I'd imagine that Pioneer will be putting out a quality product with these.

Its a good idea, they just have to make sure they don't deviate from the 1210's design too much. Otherwise people will slate it.

it looks pretty solid, will be interested to see what the finished product is like. I think pioneer have very good quality control so should be a decent turntable to use. Can't wait to see the final release, really wanted to buy technics but do not trust 2nd hand equipment so never purchased any, will definitely be grabbing these if they are similar to 1210's

Been after a pair of 1210's forever just like Dannyboy I don't trust second hand. Will pick a pair of these up if they can compare to 1210s.

also: why would this lower the cost of pressing vinyl?

Just seen this. Looks like a 1210 but with a cdj stop/start button.
If only it said Technics, not Pioneer.

why would this lower the cost of pressing vinyl?

Because if it results in more people buying turntables then more people will be buying records. More records being pressed means the fixed costs of production are reduced per record.

This is great news, and I'm really excited to see whether they incorporate some sort of dvs system. I love my Technics and wouldn't sell them for these for the foreseeable future as they have plenty of life left in them, but to have some new turntables back in production is only a good thing for all things vinyl!

there's not much that can go wrong with a 1200 - I can attest, from servicing dozen's of them, that buying second hand is the way to go with technics decks. I would never buy them knew, just not worth the extra cash

It would have to have HID and a Serato box/ be link able for me to care. Are club owners going to rush out and buy them?

Btw not buying technics at all because you don't want to buy then 2nd hand is also like the pioneer pitch...
My technics are probably 3rd hand but they work fine.
