with this kind of support we could go live next week if we get the judges and the samplepack sorted , its only like thats all we need to do and then its go-time!!
its going to be brutal aquatic drum and bass compo. nautical techno compo. wavey wobbly deep sea bass, or perhaps smattering waterfall drums, or why not indeed a conceptual tune about a a a civilization on the bottom of the sea. german merman vocals. could be fun, you know.

naturally, judges cant compete. so once everyone is done, its an open public poll, where you can see whos voted for what (not allowed to vote for yourself), and then the three top tunes go to the judges for review. there will be one winner and one public favorite. the prize goes to the judges winner but the public fave, hes held in high regard amongst the 40 odd voters this usually attracts. we should promote the voting part this time so we get more voters, everybody put the link to the voting thread in your sigs when its time. right? cos last time we didnt promote it at all and there werent that many votes, which is a shame really.

eta on samplepack is so and so, i need dirty breaks to send me what hes got, and elmar, your 'weird shit' directory is empty.
can either of you add a directory for beginners? just a directory with a few 5-10 full loops of drums, basslines, keys, pads, strings.
just so even the novice producers can compete too if they like. also i havent seen dirty breaks sample pack yet so i dont know whats in there, but judging by the sounds of it, there is some drums and basic waveforms. i think were going to have to have a few more types of sounds in there, like strings and similar samples so as to make pads. didnt anyone think to include a strings directory?

so the fix the 'weird shit' directory, add a directory for beginners, and we need a couple of samples to make pads and strings from.

is it an idea to let people record water to their hearts desire too? on top of the vocals?

the eta on the samplepack is this, soon as this all gets done, we can start the compo.

recording water noise should be ok i reckon - as long as you dont use that to create some freaky bass or other "instrument".
use recordings as recordings and use the sample pack to make all the rest.
