Lol at some of the comments in this thread. Not sure how corporations 'fuck us up' given that they enrich us through something called wages. It's a great system and if you work hard enough or are clever or skilled and apply yourself enough you can end up earning enough to live well. Even those of us who fail miserably are carried along by the strong I mean even those on the dole can have nice TVs. When in the whole of our history as a nation have we had it so good? Capitalism is tried and tested and has elevated the standard of living for the masses in this country it deserves a round of applause quite frankly. All of you who are knocking the idea of the nice house with 2.4 kids will be crying into their beer come middle age when they look round and they have no-one to share their life with or kids to watch grow up. What's the alternative folks? A string of girlfriends a huge drug addiction and dead by heart failure at the age of 27? I'm struggling to find an achievable and desirable alternative to 'the game' as Howard puts it..

Anyway where did we find the money to knock down the slums/tenements and provide the masses with proper housing. How did we reach the point where we could have national healthcare and a successful welfare state? Do you think that Communism could have given us that? Or flat screen tvs? Or any of the consumer durables that have done so much to improve our lives. In a capitalist system everybody ends up with what they want. It even helped emancipate women through the mass production of washing machines and dishwashers etc.
