    Re: Bloc 2012 shut down

I went, queueing was a joke and we left when they shut it down at about 12.30. There were some cool popup events last night, i really wanted to reach plex vs perc but it was down in peckham, and i couldnt be fucked to travel that far. In the end we just went down to fabric. Disappointed it got shut down, but whatever, i get a refund i spose. I feel sorry for all the foreigners who came over for the festival and had to spend more money on flights, hotels etc

Wow what a fail. These people who mess up like this need sacking. Its all good saying sorry maybe next time but its the people who lost out this time i feel sorry for. Fair enough you will be getting a refund but thats not the point a festival on this scale going this wrong is a total pisstake. I wont be planning a bloc festival trip anytime soon

    Re: Bloc 2012 shut down

I was there and it really wasnt that busy. Came out of the main tent after Doom for some air and the police had set up a metal fence across the middle of the festival separating the main tent / boat / ra tent from the rest. Didnt look too busy, didnt look to be any problems.

I heard it was ticket overselling and people being let in without tickets, who knows though.

    EDIT:

Some of the people i was with bought tickets off gumtree and its gonna be interesting to see how that works out with refunds. A lot of people gonna get cash for their ticket and a refund and a lot of people gonna get nothing.

apparently you can get your money back if you act quickly...

    http://www.factmag.com/2012/07/11/bl...dministration/

Update: FACT reader Luk Man Hon of record store Vinyl Pimp may have the answer, in terms of getting a refund:

“When a firm goes into administration, they look at how much money is left to pay off creditors, including ticket holders. If your money is still in the Bloc / Crowdsurge merchant bank (who accepted the payment online), then you should be able to get a full refund before it reaches their business bank.

“Basically, my advice is not to wait, call your bank immediately and initial a chargeback on the purchase. Your bank might tell you to wait 15 days for the company to refund, just refuse outright, telling them that Baselogic is attempting to refund all tickets, and you believe they don’t have the funds to do so.

“Just spoke with my bank, I am due to get my money back tonight. I asked for a chargeback on Monday.”

so what it looks like they over sell LOADS and then quickly going into VOLUNTARY administration??? Is this tactic just not making sure some of them have a big pay day before trying something else?

They know the Bloc name is now tarnished and if ticket sales money has gone into their business accounts they can go into admin and still leave with enough money to go onto something else.

To be fair that money will go towards paying their creditors so if they would have had any money left over they wouldn't be filling for bankruptsy.

Anyway when a company goes insolvent the Liquidator steps in. You that guy Harry??

tbh though the 18000 capacity must have been approved by the licensing authorities

I think when it gets to that size its the Police and the Fire Brigade that have to agree on the numbers. May have been an odd shape venue b2b with not letting them in quickly enough. The Love Parade wasn't full when the crush happened there it was a bottle neck. Anyway where are the aerial photos that'll tell more of the story?
