Alternatives to iPad?

as i refuse to buy Apple, what are the alternative to the iPad?

i saw a similar device in China called the 'CoolPad' but it looked a lil cheap and nasty.. had something to do with Andriod? is that Google? iunno...

samsung galaxy tab. Pretty nifty, but i'm not a fan of the new tablet craze, what's wrong with a laptop?

imagine your on a packed bus in thailand and u wanna watch a film or sum porn. its alot of hasstle to get the laptop out n goin.. where as these lil pad things are small n easy to just grab n go.

plus laptop is alot heavier than pad. plus pad takes up less room. starts up quicker & seems to have longer battery power.

When it comes to music and using a controller such as an ipad, Just get a lemur.

well if you don't want the iPad then there is the iPad 2. also the iPad 3.

honestly i would go to a physical shop and try them all out.
see which one suits you best / price
then process of elimination

Whatever you get, don't get some cheap £200 alternative. I know people who have an they tend to be rubbish (poor touch screen and stuff).
I think your missing out by "not jumping on the apple bandwagon". I'm not a huge Apple person or anything (I have a HTC phone) but iPad is probably the best tablet I have seen. I would at least go try one in the apple store.

If not then I would just go for one of the higher end ones running Android.

ive seen people using them. looks pretty tough (touch screen won't break easy) and reliable.

but if you have an ipod, your forced to used itunes right? is it the same with the ipad? do you have to use other apple software for it to work. would it plug into my microsoft laptop?

You have to use iTunes if you want to sync music onto it and stuff, but that's about all I can think of. Oh and movies, I got an app for playing Avi files, all I do is load up itunes go to the apps bit, click on that app and then select the films I wanna put on.

its like in windows 8 (whatever the new one will be called), u'll only be able to use IE. there is no option to use firefox or chrome.

still i'll go and try one out at the store for a laugh

its important to rememeber, i dont know if you knew this, but none of the tablets are proper windows or macintosh, its got its own OS called tablet blah blah OS and there are very few apps developed for tablet OS so far. i had this idea that i was gay for, for a while, and that was a tablet, then plug in a mouse and a keyboard and get fruityloops and cooledit on there and voila, a portable music production doohickey, but nooo. no sir. it doesnt work like that.

Windows 8 for tablet or Windows 8 for PC?

I'm 100% sure on the PC you will be able to install whatever you want. There is no way they would scale it back so you can't start installing other programs. They even got in a lot of legal trouble over Windows shipping with IE, thats why they had to start doing that "Browser Choice" thing where you got a pop up saying what browser would you like to install...
