Mr meh the genelecs are 5 inch, ?? I'll check them out tho.
Scrapped, I've looked around for a place that sells Adams, can't find any. Do you know one? I'm pretty much restricted to Christchurch Rockshop, which doesn't even stock half of the actual range they sell, so listening isn't even that practical.

Mackies are one of worst monitors when it comes to flat response and honest character,I know I know, everybody and their dog use it for dnb but thats becose it sounds kinda like audiosystem just smaller, hyped bass,so it translates but it really really isnt neutral speaker in any way

adam and mainly genelec on other hand are much flatter

Oops, didnt realise the Genelecs were only 5", i guess they are supposed to be used with a seperate sub which is obviously more expensive.

Definitely check those Adams tho, i hear they are spot on for dnb producing. And they look pretty badass too!

Will probably get a pair myself if i ever upgrade my Rokit 6's...

Yeah man, mackie, genelec, Adams. Completely agree with the rokit's being "hi fi" speakers. I have the hr824 mk2 and I love them. Loads of people say mk1's all day.

There is no way mackie would spend 10/15 years developing a speaker That is Worse than benchmark mk1's.

    Fact.

Once you start getting onto all the internet opinions it gets even more confusing lol.
HR824 mk2's or same price for Yam HS80's with Rokit 10s sub, or Rokit vxt8's, or adam a7x(more expensive online buying). Gets a bit silly jokes after a while. You look somewhere and it's the finger of god on sound, next search says the opposite.

    Thanks for all your input

Yamaha HS80s are worth looking at. I got the the Rokit 6s, took them home, and then took them back the next day as they didn't suit my room at all, and were heavy on the bass IMO. I would of got the Yamahas first, but was trying to save money (not the best thing to do when buying monitors) For me, the HS80s were the best sounding monitor under £700, but everyone's different, so what's best for you won't necessarily be right for someone else

not really,I have yet to see someone saying A7x isnt great for money, while people say very regulary that rokkit and mackie while sounding very nice arent really flattest in their price range

True I guess, I've seen far less negative comments about adams, but all the others seem to have a fair even bunch of lovers and fault finders.

    Re: Time for new monitors

He's glitch hop rather than d&b so what he's looking for in monitors might vary, but DJ Vespers did an interesting review of the Adam A7X, Adam A8X, and Genelec 8040a:

    Re: Time for new monitors

Went for the Mackie MR8's in the end and liking them so far, although I desperately need to do a bit of room treatment, bass is an issue.
Listened to them and the rokit 8's and based on my ears I couldn't choose the rokits. Could have been the shop set-up maybe.
These will keep me happy for a while anyway.

    Re: Time for new monitors

Look around on Gear Slutz, there are several reviews, it would be a toss up between the Mackies and Samsons for me...

the KRK's are a bit heavy in the low end...

    Re: Time for new monitors

ive got the krk8's also, they are a bit heavy on the low end, (just usb) this means get the sub where it should be, then raise it a little bit... not too much hassle, although i would like some monitors that are completely accurate!
