Sound Proofing help.. any ideas ?

Juts about to move into a new flat, its the top floor of a 3 story building, so theres no1 above me!
Gonna get myself some of the new 3 way krk monitors aswell to go with my new set up..
got a hole room just for my decks/vinyl/speakers...

i got a few lads living below me, they seem pretty safe so i dont wanna piss them off which is why i need to know what the best, and cheapest method of sound proofing is..

with my awsome paint skills heres a pic of the room and where the decks/speakers will be located!

    cheers boys

    Hi,

I've built a studio from the ground up in my garden, if you're worried about the people below you could always build a floating floor in order to reduce sound leakage. Sound proofing in general is constructed by a 'room within a room' type method.

the only way to sound proof the floor is like what was said above, raising the floor level and sound proofing under it

even then u'd still need to do the walls coz if they're hollow, the sound will travel down into the flat below

so.. would raising the the speakers off the floor help ?

maybe put some sound proofing material under the speakers.. and behind the speakers to dampen the bass ?

chances are. there is no way possible to 'sound proof' that room.

new houses/flats in the UK are very poorly built

    deffo.

walls arent solid and neither are floors. acoustic nightmare! You can hear every cough, bang n fart in new properties these days. The only thing i can suggest is go see ur neighbours and ask them what an acceptable volume is and just keep it at that

Soundproofing will be a pain in the arse but if you get speaker stands with spikes on the bottom, some foam isolation pads on top and then speakers that should help a bit.

Id imagine having soft fittings like sofas / padding / curtains will help with absorption as well.
