yeh well... i think it was more the case that they wasnt sure what was going to happen. It was basically this madly long tube which stretched accross the whole of the stage...

It was more of an experiment than a demonstration actually.. well they played some music along with it... because apparently Infrasound afeects people at different freqs. You basically had to put your hand up if you could feel something and write what exactly you was feeling.... At first when they switched it on they thought it wasnt working... and you couldnt really feel much... so they went up a few freqs and you could feel something was going on but you couldnt hear it and you couldnt really feel it either... you just knew something was going on...

but yeh... they went from like 3hz... up to like 20hz or something...

    ahahahah jokes!!!

this is the experiment... its at the bottom of that wiki page richie posted

Infrasonic 17 Hz tone experimentOn 31 May 2003, a team of UK researchers held a mass experiment where they exposed some 700 people to music laced with soft 17 Hz sine waves played at a level described as "near the edge of hearing", produced by an extra-long-stroke subwoofer mounted two-thirds of the way from the end of a seven-meter-long plastic sewer pipe. The experimental concert (entitled Infrasonic) took place in the Purcell Room over the course of two performances, each consisting of four musical pieces. Two of the pieces in each concert had 17 Hz tones played underneath. In the second concert, the pieces that were to carry a 17 Hz undertone were swapped so that test results would not focus on any specific musical piece. The participants were not told which pieces included the low-level 17 Hz near-infrasonic tone. The presence of the tone resulted in a significant number (22%) of respondents reporting anxiety, uneasiness, extreme sorrow, nervous feelings of revulsion or fear, chills down the spine and feelings of pressure on the chest.[30][31] In presenting the evidence to British Association for the Advancement of Science, Professor Richard Wiseman said, "These results suggest that low frequency sound can cause people to have unusual experiences even though they cannot consciously detect infrasound. Some scientists have suggested that this level of sound may be present at some allegedly haunted sites and so cause people to have odd sensations that they attribute to a ghost—our findings support these ideas."[29]

My Grandma and Uncle said they have seen ghosts

I never have but I would hate to live in a haunted house, well personally I dont believe in them so probably wouldn't notice one unless it jumped right out at me, did a little dance then vanished, but I have watched a good number of those ghost progs which have creeped me a bit (Ghosthunters)

    Re: Ghost Stories

this one time when i went to my nana's with my mum at night when i was little, must have been about 8 or 9 oclock and she lives in a culdesac where there is an old victorian house right opposite but at the back of the house so isnt part of the caldesac and terraced houses everywhere else. supposedly meant to be an old graveyard before the newer were built. anyway we just got to my nan's which is right at the end of the culdesac and i look around and notice something on the roof of one the houses, two bright red eyes staring at me, shat me right up, there was a couple of trees infront and it looked like it was right behind them on the roof. i couldnt see what was looking at me but i looked at my mum and sister to see if they seen it and i look back again and its gone. nothing there, i sat there looking for a few minutes till my mum parked up and looked around to see if i could see it anywhere else, but nothing. i told my mum and i didnt want to get out the car for a few minutes. i havent seen anything since but all my aunties and uncles, grandad even have stories of shit theyve seen in the culdesac.

I've only ever had one experience which shat me right up. Me and my mate broke into a disused tyre warehouse, full of tyres (funnily enough) and we used to make dens with all the tyres. The only way in was through a smashed window which had plastic sheeting covering the opening. We had dug out a big hole in the tyres and piled them around us and were sat down inside it. All of a sudden we could hear someone coming in through window, it sounded like somebody was being dragged through the plastic sheeting and through the window. We shat ourselves at this point, my mate got his knife out and we jumped out of the hole and tried to run. As soon as we stood up, the noise stopped, the only way out was back through that window. We pegged it to the window, my mate jumped out first and I asked him if there was anyone outside thinking that the sound might have come from out there. Before he had chance to speak someone whispered in the side of my ear in a really gravelly voice the word "yes", I felt the breath on my neck. I turned around but no one was there. Well I launched myself out of the window and ran like a fucker. Never went back there again!

    Re: Ghost Stories

Although i wont believe in ghosts until i encounter something myself, I do find ghosts and ghost stories absolutely fascinating. So... I'm going to lay some actual science (even if it is theoretical) into this thread to, dun dun daaaaah, back up ghost stories.

Everyone is familiar with the concept that energy cant dissapate, it is always constant right, and that thought is an electrical impulse firing over the brain (energy)... it is therefore theorised that 'ghosts' could be left over energy from someones brain (ie left over from the throes of death) repeating itself within an area (hence ghosts 'haunt' where they die).

My only ghostly experiences are as follows. (not enough to make me believe)

In was raised on a farm in hampshire in a house thats about 150 years old... the farm is called 'Slys Farm' after Mr Slys, a farmer who used to own and farm the land and who later hung himself in one of the barns... therefore our farm is supposudly haunted. I can remember being very young (probs around 6 or 7) and laying in bed when i heard slow, dragging footsteps coming from the further (scary) end of our hallway, these footsteps paused outside my door. I had my head under the duvet at this point, but i could definately hear raspy breathing coming from outside my door (a door that didnt shut properly)... this proper shit me up!

the other is that around age 12, my parents converted our old cellar into a hench, awesome bedroom for me and my bro. for years, whenever i left the cellar up the (very steep) steps you could feel a presence behind.for years i never once walked up those stairs, i tried, but would always break out into a sprint before i was half way. never get that feeling now im an adult... but that shit scared me for TIME!

    Re: Ghost Stories

Was reminded of this last night.... kinda a ghost story.. but kinda more freaky really...

A mate of mine (MC Gusto) used to live in one of those 'Protect By Occupation' set ups in central London... in a old dissused hospital under the Bt Tower!?? anyone know it?? forget what its called... where we used to the 'The Mutant DJs Haunted Hospital Sessions' in.... anyway... as you can imagine it was a pretty fukin insane place for him to live... many parts of the Hospital were boarded up or bricked up.... but after an hour or so of trying to find some way into the locked up parts of the building we found a way in by climbing a drain pipe in in through a window... So we got inside and had a little treck around and eventually started heading into the basement of the hospital. It had a pretty weird feeling about it anyway... as you would expect... mostly because we were in a derelict hospital... and movies make you feel like its meant to be haunted anyway. But yeh... we went down into the basement... which turned out to be where they kept medical records.. there were a few still on the floor so as you do you read them. The one i read was of a 12 year old boy who had serious mental delusions and was a schitz... my mate picks up another... and its of another child with mental issues... tunrs out it was the home of Wolfson Insitute for Biomedical science where they would test new pioneering neuroscience on kids and adults with severe mental issues. Anyway.... we found this room that looked exactly as if it was someothing from SAW... a boiler room with 4 huge boilers... windows so you could see in... a little hatch big enough for someone to slide into... the lot... so we were kinda freaked out by it a little... when we heard something that sounded like metal drop to the floor in the corridor we had just come down.... we all shat ourselves and none of us wanted to out as all we had were torches but yeh.... after a few minutes of us pussying out we decided to look out into the corridor... and literally maybe a metre away from the entrance to the door there was a small piece of metal piping. All of us swore that it wasnt there before and there was no way it had fallen from anything as there were no pipes running along the ceiling or anywhere for it to fall from. We all just thought maybe it wasnt that that we heard dropping and just carried on. Got to the end of the corridor and it suddenly got reeaaally cold... it was right near the bottom of a lift shaft... which none of us dared to go in as it still had the tension cables for the lift etc... so we just put the cold down to that but we carried on and came accross this room. It had a obviously more thicker sturdier door than any of the other doors we had seen... and had what i can only describe as like a ship door lock on it... you know the ones... where you lift a lever and then turn a wheel to unlock it!???.... we went inside to find what all of us thought was far to similar to a movie seen than we would have hoped.... basically.... in the middle was a small drain hole... and the floor was angled so that any water etc would run into the drain.... around the edges were metal work tops... and above the drain hole a metal bed frame that was bolted to the floor with a small area cut out of it at one end... which we assumed would have been the end which your head would be at. On one side of the room was a 2 way mirror.... and next to it a door.... just as heavy as the one in which we had just come through.... so we opened it up and went in and it seemed as though it was some kind of interview room so to speak except the chairs and the table in the room were made of metal and bolted to the floor.
We had a look around for a little while and started getting ourselves a bit freaked out by it all when the first heavy door we had come through squeeked as though someone was trying to push it shut!? we all rushed back through to the room but the door hadnt moved at all... so we quickly left the room and headed back the way we came to get out and literally every door along the way was open... not hugely open... but slightly a jar. None of use said anything at the time.... to be honest I noticed but didnt really pay much attention to it... until we got out and Gusto.... who is the biggest skeptic in the world when it comes to things like that said.... "did you notice all the doors on the way back were slightly open".

Now i dont know if one of gustos house mates/building mates knew we were going in there and followed us and set it all up... but it freaked us the fuck out big time!!!
