what i dont get is how most transactions bounce if you dont have enough cash, but some send you over? its the sly little things like that, that piss me off... but as has been said, call em and be all super nice at first, they will try and sort it out, i spoke to the finance people and they wavered the £6 charges and increased my overdraft to stop more charges being added![]()
i have no advise. sorry.
but people selling shit to pay $250? other people increasing over drafts?
the uk sounds like its still fucked.. might have to stay down here for another couple of years

Theres a form you can complete and send off to your bank to reclaim any charges but I guess you would have to pay the charge first

Kick up a fuss, its the only way
A small-ish story a while back i opened an account with hsbc, no money in it, blah blah went and got drunk night out, waited for the taxi, drunken matey checks his bank account for no reason at the ATM, i check mine (knowing theres no money in it) i was tipsy as a gypsy and tried to withdraw money, it let me take £30, i thought wtf, so i typed in £100 thinking (in a drunkard mind) the cash machine was giving out cash. it did, 300 quids worth, bought a round of kebabs for my friends and paid for the taxi home.
Next day, totally forgot about what had happened, reached into my jeans expecting a pocket full of coins, but a fistfull of notes i ran to the bank and explained etc. they shouldnt have let me take any money, no charges or nowt, it was there fault in the end, most expensive kebab round ever, i couldnt claim that back unforunately

the bank wants you in dept mothafuckaaaaah.
seriously. its one way to keep their customers. or should i say "slaves"
the RBS has got me with a hefty overdraft but i only get charged £30 a month which is more than enough within its self.

this pracitce was outlawed a couple of years ago, speak to the bank manager, tell them that you know these charges are completly unjustified and demand that they pay back all the charges or you will goto the ombudsman and seek further compensation

do actually speak to them, you WILL get your money back

natwest wanted to charge me £300 in charges from being over drawn through christmas. they'd already taken 130 and were going to take another 185. i kinda knew id been over drawn but played ignorant to the fact. i phoned them and told them i usually get a text to let me know im overdrawn but id not had one for 2 months (bollocks). my account balance got reduced back to 0 and all the charges got wiped. in fact i was able to draw out a tenner the next day.
tell them its not on, you cant afford these inevitable charges, or to pay the over draft and if they uphold it you'll simply change banks today whilst you've still got a reasonable credit score. tell them all incoming payments get switched and you'll nause them off for every penny as it wasn't your fault. they can do what they want really, if it means keeping a customer they'll usually be reasonable.
