jungletrain.net are proud to announce the debut show of the Foundation X Crew aka Skitty & Nolige on Wednesday June 1st 2011. The duo from Wolverhampton, UK have been creating a storm in the Drum & Bass scene in recent years and we have been lucky enough to be able to grab a quick chat with Skitty to bring you a little more insight into the what the 'Midland Heavyweights' are about before they get their first show underway....

JT: Hi Skitty! Firstly and on behalf of the station and listeners we would like to welcome you guys on board and are looking forward to the Foundation X Show featuring on the station! We have a few questions we would like to throw your way to provide our listeners with an insight into who you are and what you are about.. so here goes..

There has been a lot of noise being generated in recent years about the Foundation X label, with some great releases already in the public domain, please shed some light on the reasons for it's inception, the label's ethos and what kind of things we can be expecting to see from it in the near future?

Skitty: The label was started after I'd taken a break from producing tunes for a little while, took a step back and thought about where I wanted to go, and what I wanted to be hearing. The sound has become so watered down the last few yrs, its lost its blackness and its street edge, most dnb is aimed at middle class white kids. Foundation X is a counteraction to that, its anti everything - anti progression, anti modern, anti loud mixdown, the whole lot.

JT: With the current trend reflecting a serious imbalance between the number of vinyl labels out there compared with digital-only outlets, can you explain the reason why you feel it is important to preserve vinyl sales and ultimately physical audio products within the music scene?

Skitty: Well its important for many reasons, mainly because the label is dealing with a traditional sound, therefore it should be available in traditional forms. The label only does small runs of vinyl, but these are aimed at the specific hardcore following that its building up..although im not sure how long vinyl is going to go on for.

JT: In terms of musical influences, where do you draw your influences from and what do you think attracts you to those particular styles?

Skitty: My influences come from old Hardcore and Jungle obviously, but also my hometown of Wolverhampton is inspiring in it's own weird way. it would be too easy for me to name names when its more intangible things that have the most influence.

JT: What differentiates both yourself and Nolige in terms of the sounds you individually represent as both Deejays and Musicians?

Skitty: Ermm. When it comes to deejaying I think we both play different selections, but they have their connections, beats, subs, atmosphere.. that kind of thing. Production wise I'd say Shaun prefers the more mooody lower tones and I the more bubbly vibe based tunes.

JT: Ok. So with both of you commanding a rather serious back catalogue of releases as individual artists, what releases should we be looking forward to in the near future and when will we be seeing a collaboration from the both of you?

Skitty: We just had the third fdx 12 out which featured Skitty - Hornsman and Nolige - Aint no stopping.. releases that people can look forward to will be heard on our new show on Jungletrain..say no more haha

JT:..... An answer to leave mouths watering there! Ok.. so With such a reputation preceeding the both of you where ever you go, what can the listeners expect to catch on the Foundation X Show? Many are aware that besides the quality and quantity of output coming from the label that you both promoted the Cloud 9 events promoting the oldskool sounds of Hardcore Jungle in the Midlands, UK. With Nolige being a bit of a specialist himself in the oldskool sound, will there be much in the way of an oldskool education agenda being featured on the show?

Skitty: Well initially I was skeptical about doing a regular show as I didn't want the music to get rinsed and become stale but Jungletrain seems to be the home for this type of sound. The show will be the place to hear all news and music relating to Foundation X. Oldskool will be a heavy feature of the show as a lot of the influences on the label come directly from the 91 to 95 era.

JT: Ok, well we are definitely looking forward to you guys representing your thing on the station and thanks for the great insight there as to what you guys are about. I think that clears up the most relevant questions that we feel the listeners would like to know the answers to... we would like to finish off with a few random quick-fire questions.. answer at your own risk!

JT: Best gig ever performed at?

Skitty: Too many to mention for myself..big up all promoters

JT: Worst record ever purchased?

Sktty: Probably my aphrodite phase.lol

JT: First record ever purchased?

Skitty: Can't think. Probably Lord Of The Null Lines on Moving Shadow.

JT: First club/rave experience?

Skitty: Probably Dance Energy at the Civic Centre.

JT: Funniest Deejaying moment?

Skitty: Probably in Bratislava, some pilled-up girl comes on stage, gets on the floor and starts playing with herself live and direct in front of us.

JT:wow! Say no more!! Thanks Skitty and once again, welcome to the Jungletrain family!
