Creating dark pads in fl studio...

hi all,

i've been messin about with fl studio 9 xxl producer edition now for the better part of 8 months, and i'm by no means an expert, but i can sort of get things that i want done.
anyway, i was just wonderin how would be the best way of goin about makin some nice dark pads similar to the type tango & ratty were makin back around 93 in tracks like 'the killer' etc.
any info on this would be much appreciated as i've been at it far a couple of weeks now but have gotten nowere really lol.

dark pads is mostly about the chord. get a choir preset and play a d minor or press C and C# at the same time

put loads and I mean loads of effects over it, turn it inside out and don't hold back. seen the best pads getting born this way.

yeah and then resample that, cut off a nice size piece and do a loop point with new vol env and cut off env and lfo and stuff.
