Hey dude, You should find this book called "the shock doctrine: The rise of disaster capitalism" by Naomi Klein. Pretty interesting book. Talks about the destabilization of South American by economics / dictatorships. Gives a really good historical perspective on how the US has had so much success in pulling the strings, and much if it focuses on ramming through laws in hard times, like a hurricane, economic meltdown, or even a terrorist attack. I am sure you will find lots of relevance to the book especially if you are an avid news hound like myself.
