The Details:

Me & Smarty are running this, wanted to have something the forum can get together and enjoy and hopefully get some really good mixes out to everyone.

Every month there will be a new one, with a theme.
This month is "Summer vibes". Each submission will be judged by the chosen members and the best two mixes will be put up for voting to the entire forum.
You will be judged on the theme of the month, so pick your songs accordingly.

Winners will be announced at the end of Month and just to make this a little bit better, the winners will get the choice to have me design anything they want for free if they want. I am also currently investing in making for dnbforum gear so...


The Rules:

.01| Group of 3 people per mix submission.
*** You cannot have the same team for the next month competition. keep that in mind.
.02| Each person's mix should be 20 minutes long, then put together to make one mix.
*** if you dont have a member that knows how to do this, smarty will do this for your team.
.03| Each member must pick ONE song from the list below and include it in their mix.
.04| All entries must be submitted by the 22nd of May.
.05| ALL MIXES SHOULD BE SENT TO *CHLOE IN PM, I WILL THEN DISTRIBUTE THEM TO THE OTHER JUDGES ANONYMOUSLY.

Right teams have been made, competition is closed now.

Each team needs to get in touch and sort their mix out, plan things out and etc.
THE DEADLINE IS THE 22ND OF MAY, if your late, then you're out.
Need the mixes to be judged by all the judges in a week and voted by the forum, so don't be lazy. People who have signed up and end up not following thru will not be accepted in the next competition.

With that said, i think i can say that loads of people are excited to hear what comes out of this, so good luck!

each member picks one song from the list. its not gonna matter because in the end people are gonna play similar songs, its a summer mix.

well first there's loads of really talented people on this forum, so finding someone good to work with shouldnt be a problem.

we are making this a once a month thing, because loads of people enjoy putting a mix out and having a theme and little competition once a month is something we thought people would like, if you dont want to do it every month , well you can do it every two months then.

we cant do "putting the best 6 together" because thats not the point of doing a "group" competition so you get to work and talk to other people on the forum.

i do take your opinions but try and focus on the POSITIVE and hopefully youll participate, ask 2 members out of the list of people wanting a team, creating a sick mix and get to know some other members.

and if you dont win, well thats not the end of the world, we have 10 judges who will pick the best two mixes and then the forum votes.

Do like we did the DnBforum mix tape.

when the first person finishes their mix, they must play their last tune till the end,

then sends it over to you, cut it a so you can mix out of the last tune with out playing the whole mix before you can mix.

cut it at an editable point in the tune (must be before u intend to start your mix. other wire it wont edit smoothly.)

play the cut and downloaded mix through ya CDJ, Laptop etc and (making the pitch stays at exactly 0, or gain it wont be flush)

mix out and continue with your mix, when you are happy with it, edit it back onto the orginal mix you recieved, upload and send it to ya next team mate.

this make perfect sense to me but give us a shout if ya dont understand, i think this is the best way to do it.

If you could send them as 320 mp3's please, that would be wicked. Ideally what would be easier would be to have you finish on one tune which your team-mate can also play.
For example:
Say you finished with "Outerspace" by MIST then your team-mate would carry on with "Outerspace" :2thumbs:

im reli up for this, but i have a few qualms with it...

these things always drag out a bit and i think once a month is a bit of overkill as people take ages to get shiz in esspecially when u want people to co-operate...

also so if only the top 2 get put up then i wud be pretty miffed if mine didnt after pouring into it...

also if ur 20 mins are wikid and u dnt no any1 else on the forum and the two people ur lumped with r shite then ur fucked....

meh i just rekon u shud do it everyone submits their 20 mins and the best 6 get put in a 2 hour mixtape. and u shud do it every other month at the most.

Im really excited about the fact that the mixes are themed, I reckon thats a bangin idea chloe cos I like the challenge of doing a certain type of mix, and that means that the mixes will serve a purpose so it will get listened to. (I like having mixes where ur like I feel like some summer-ness so ill put on the allstar mixtape!!).

However I really think it will be difficult to sort out mixes done by three people and join them together.n A-- Unless you sit down with the other two and talk about what you want to do (not that many willl have that much spare time), it wil end up as three disjointed mixes with no direction. B--- I dont personally know that many people on the forum so finding other people will be difficult. C-- I think it would be more interesting for the listeners to hear the best 4 half hour sets by individuals DJs.

This is easy to overcome if you don't the last tune that the previous DJ finished on though.

Just load the previous DJs mix into your Sequencer (Audacity/Audition/Cubase) and record your mix from the last tune of the previous DJ. This will also preserve the tempo of the mix too. Once finished bounce the audio of both mixes to one file.

i agree, the flow would be alot better if it is done in this way. but think of this: the 1st person ends with Tune X - now the 2nd person starts with Tune X - now your mixing a beginning and end of the same track no? you might end up with the same track playing for too long too.... be easier just to cut it cleverly imo.

it will still need some sort of edit or clever digital mixing even if it is the same track though. you gotta make this easy for peeps to do.

this would be so much easier if it was 2 people and not 3! lol

I put together mine and AC's mix and think you'l struggle to find the transition between the two, perhaps its more obvious when when different tempos and songs are used be we used the same and sounds wicked:mrgreen:

which reminds me, cuz i edited it in Sony Acid, there seems to be abit of diminished quality as a whole as of course the mixes have been rendered twice, is ther any alternate method to overcome this?
