i'd hazard a guess they're jus' wannabes. kids in london wanna be everytype of gangsta ever. they don't really care what actual gang warfare used to be about, they just wanna fuck each other up for no reason and then put glossy names on the crime

Its alot of the back community in london, especialy around the poor areas (Counsil flats & house's), they dont have a pot to piss in so they mug other kids who do have money, phone, ipod, trainners, ect. and some of the ppl say no you ant have my fukin shoe's ya poor cunt...so the they stabb em up and take what they wanted....its also about terrtory...if you ant know in that area they will chase you and try and mug ya. thats my understanding anyway.

Word to everything RZA said, he sees how it really is...

Yeah gang culture is over here, kids imitating what they think gangs are like in the states...

It's a real shame to see the country go this way, and I aint got any idea how they're gonna stop it...

When all the music teaches them is to make money in any way(robbing, selling drugs) and glamourises violence and gangs you just know that people are gonna latch on to it and imitate it and end up thinking there superbad and start killing each other over pointless shit. That said i like some hip hop and i'm originally fron a council estate and i've never put a cap in anyones ass. Some people can't be bothered to learn and earn so they just start robbing and listening to hip hop.

I agree, although in our country its Grime music that is definitely having an effect on youths as well as modern Hip Hop

:word:

Roll Deep know the stuff, they're different to most of the Grime people, and they make quality songs, I have both the albums.

4 YEARS FOR A BIT OF WEEDdon't get caught. not hard to keep away from police. anywayz did you get 4 years from a bit of weed, i don't think so! if you were caught selling it maybe..

executed?? this is fucking england mate, not saudi! its unfortunate that people go down for crimes they didn't do, but thats all down to a lack of police resources and a bullshit government that controls them.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital_punishment_in_the_United_Kingdom

England was still hanging in the 60's.

I know it's not Saudi, that's my point...

If you want an armed Police state, you can't pick and choose which laws they get harsh on.

There's a long history of UK miscarriages of justice, (which have led to death sentences and years behind bars) not to do with lack of Police resources, but for wanting to get a 'collar' and close the case, even if a knowingly innocent man gets sent down.

I don't want kids, gangs (or anyone) with knives and guns on the streets, but I sure don't want to live in a Police state with armed Police on every corner.:|

unfortunatly, i think that unless this becomes a police state for a few years, then knife & gun crime with continue to rise. i wouldn't mind seeing a copper with a gun every 5 mins if i knew i was going to be safe no matter what. maybe they shouls relax some laws like taking drugs and be VERY harsh on serious stuff like knifes, guns etc etc.

this country has a MAJOR problem with young kids today, and it will get worse and worse.

have you seen the film V for Vendetta (2005)? if yes then i would hope the police state wouldn't be like that..

p.s. you get 14 years max for dealing can-o-bliss... i read somewhere that a guy got like 2 years for rape recently.... thats sick.. rape is worse than murder and should have the death penalty or actual life sentence.

Ha ha, take a listen to grime and its all shotgun, killers, murderers blah blah. Load of bollocks. And some fucking dnb mcs who I don't have to fucking mention, going on about their fucking guns and crews and shit, aren't much better.

Every time I visit London, I'm a bit more scared to walk around. When I was growing up in London, worst thing that would happen is I'd get smacked around. When I visit, I'm wondering about some shit knifing me in a club.

Around here, last time I got smacked around it was by five local chavs, the worst thing that happened to me was I had some tampons up my nose. And when somebody pulled a pistol on me, I knew it was a starter gun so I beat him up with my baton.

You should of beat the fuckers up mate, and 'baton' - what do you do for work mate, you a police officer or something?

Dustek
15-08-2008, 23:59
That said, I prefer coppers to have batons not guns. Britain has plenty of police with weapons - in fact British cops have more aggressive response to firearms than those in the US. Gun crime in the UK brings a response with police armed with submachine guns (MP5) rather than pistol armed police. And the response is pretty much instanteous - in areas threatened with gun crime there are constant armed police patrols, just not the coppers on the street. And the cops with guns are trained to a much higher degree than US cops.

As far as life for a knife is concerned, thats bullshit. A 18 year old kid hardly knows his balls from his dick, he really doesn't know anything. Should he be in prison for life because he's been listening to garage, grime and Snoop? That is not the way forward.

Five vs two that time and my mate ran so I was fucked.

As far as the baton is concerned, I was celebrating our degrees with some mates in a park (right next door to my flat in a slightly dodgy area) and some muggers with tights on their heads decided to fuck with us, but we weren't having it - don't fuck with somebody with Jack Daniels in their system. I think I broke the fucker's arm. He ran away calling me a fag.

When I was working on a South London Newspaper on a placement a local corner shop had a gang of lads run in and set off big fireworks which nearly burnt the shop out.

I went and interviewed the shopkeeper, took the story back and the lead Journo said 'if it's not shootings and stabbings it's not news'...

That is sadly the way a large part of the media choose to report it, and that reporting affects people's lives and world view, people fear violent crime, even though they have no direct experience of it, cos the media tells them the streets are dangerous and out of control.

There's a media theory called 'Mean World Syndrome' which says people's perception & fear of violent crime is that it's far more common than it really is, cos that what they read about / see on the TV everyday, and they believe that over their safe and boring lives.

Mix that with impressionable teens, adolescence, drugs, booze, grime, gangsta rap, movies and whatever else, and kids believe everyone else is packing weapons, and see carrying as protection / status / whatever...

I lived in London for like 12 years (up until a year ago), in that time I saw one supermarket security guard get stabbed up by a shoplifter, but I read / saw TV news about violent crime everyday, but my own life experience tells me it's not that bad.

Yeah, London's been crazy this year, but I was living there for years, walking back from raves, pubs and clubs at all times of day and nights and mingling with squatters and various dodgy fookers, and I saw one blade and no guns.

What I'm saying is...you can walk the streets of London, day and night in relative safety, and keep your wits about you, and you're very unlucky to be a victim of violent crime.

I'm happy I'm not a teenager growing up in London today, but even those teenagers, I reckon well over 90% will never see blades or guns used in violence.
